Guest kevlar Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 I'm not sure if it's the update or just me setting it up, but I haven't been able to send email for a few days, although I can receive. I have incoming mail set to pop.ntlworld.com and outgoing set to smtp.orange.net. Have I got that right? I'm sure that's how I've always set it up! cheers Kevlar
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 It's Orange - see this thread : http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...6457&highlight= (Wed 24/03/04) "I am sorry to hear of the continued problems you are experiencing. I would like to advise you that we had a major problem with our SMTP server which started last week. The first signs were the same as the error message you are reporting. We believed this to be resolved, but unfortunately, we have had to re-open the issue, as the work carried out did not continue to perform. This has also affected the SMS alert for mails received. I apologise again for any inconvenience caused, and trust this will be resolved at the earliest opportunity. I hope this information is of assistance Kind regards Helen Orange Customer Services"
Guest kevlar Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Thanks m8, at least I know it's not me or my e200 then! cheers Kevlar
Guest DancingMatt Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Oh, so that's why I haven't had that free text about someone called or left a message?
Guest Tyrant_worm Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 Hi All, Is anyone still suffering this problem? I went to a Treo from an e100 but became incredibly familiar with the phone whilst I had it. A mate has an e200 and I have had a really good look at his settings but he still cannot send/receive using Orange as a mail provider. This is only since update. Entering the same settings into my Treo POP client and there is no issue, though I was suffering at the time the above was posted. The issue was this - for some reason smtp.orange.net required smtp authentication on any mail sent off domain. Fortunately I now have access to a proper connection log and so was able to adjust my settings. In short there is no issue with orangeinternet APN (it can be used for other activities) and his settings are 100%. Has anyone got POP e-mail working since the UK update, using Orange as a SP or other? cheers
Guest Tyrant_worm Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 So only two people who use e-mail have done the update huh? :D
Guest manocheese Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 I've done the update and can't get me email anymore, the staff in the Orange shop were useless and I haven't got around to calling 156 yet, I'll update you guys if I get this solved. FYI: I've tried manual install and remote setup via setup.orange.com. I've tried Orange and Yahoo! mail accounts. I used to be able to get my Yahoo! POP3 mail before the update.
