This new version add several new features and bug fixes:

- It's now possible to open a file or launch an application from the search result dialog.

- It's possible to manage file types. You can then choose an application to open a given extension, choose the icon used for that type of document and decide if it can be downloaded in Internet Explorer.

- Option "Always use this application" in dialog "Open with" is now implemented.

- On E200, menu "Send by email" is renommed to "Send by Email/MMS".

- When doing a copy-paste or cut-paste, you can overwrite existing items. The confirmation dialog lets you choose between Yes, Yes to all, No and No to all.

- Font has been fixed in the dialog that let you choose another application (in Open with dialog).

- Status bar management has been improved.

WOW  This app just keeps getting better and better!

Fantastic work guys! Thanks for listening to our suggestions and constantly improving this. Couple of questions:

What does "Run..." do, and when choosing "Send via MMS" for a .3gp vid file, it pastes this into an MMS, but does not play when you select preview. Has this been tested and works for sending video messsages?

Thanks again,

Crafty

Looks good so far...

This has really caught my eye- does this mean that I can set it up so that Internet Explorer can download and save ZIP files (as opposed to just download them, racking up GPRS usage and then throwing them away when it realises it doesn't like ZIP files...)

Also, when I go into "manage file types" (trying to do the above), it comes up with a blank list of file types. Shouldn't this look like the list in your screenshot with ".2bp, .3gp, .asf" etc. etc?

Run... is exactly as it is on Windows. It allows you to execute a command manually. It is less useful on smartphone, but there are case it can be, for example if you want to execute an app passing it some arguments.

Regarding the MMS, we don't do anything except give the file to Outlook. If the file is supported, it will play. Otherwise, it seems to only be attached to the MMS (although I'm not sure it will be sent).

No. It's not to make IE save file. It's to make it accept to download the file. For example, if you try to download a .xaa file, it will refuse. If you try a zip file (that are by default associated with Smart Explorer and accepted for download), IE will download the file and passe it to Smart Explorer.

Regarding the list, you should get the list as on the screenshot. We have tried to do as much tests as possible, but playing with phone registry may sometime give strange results. There may be cases where the access to registry keys are locked by the system. We are actually investigating on that point. This problem shouldn't occure once the final version is signed.

Smart Explorer is now also available in german. Many thanks to Sven Rutten www.ruttensoft.com for the translation. See original post for link to the german version.

This is the kind of quality all apps should be :) Great work!

Only prob i can see is that you cant edit a file type without having to do both the icon and the command path. Obviously you can just delete what you dont want in the reg but it would be nice if you could do one without the other.

Also, any chance of adding the ability to change folder icons?

See here

and maybe fonts?

We have tried to display hidden files in the same way they appear on Windows. But the screen is too small. It's not very visible. That's why we added the status bar at the bottom. You can see immediately if a file is hidden when the corresponding icon has a check mark.
