Guest nickcornaglia Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Unlike the teething days of the Smartphone when it seemed like there were weeks between each newly released application over at Handango and other software sites, the apps just seem to be rolling in like crazy now. Now maybe they're not all the greatest "must-have" applications. They may not cause everyone to start whipping out their credit cards (okay, some should be free...but they are all very low-priced). More importantly, the frequency of applications being released is just another great sign that developers, new and seasoned, are taking notice of the Smartphone platform and the money making potential in it. Very soon we will have a library of applications that will make other platforms green with envy! Some new applications available this week are: SmartRadio - US$5.00 Here at Handango JeRRe.Convert.Smartphone - US$10.00 Here at Handango SmartFAX Messenger by SmartTV - US$6.50 Here at Handango Loan Element Calculator - US$4.61 Here at Handango
Guest nickcornaglia Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 On a personal note....I like the functionality of the Jerre Conversion Application, especially with my frequent ebay buying and selling to and from the UK and HK. I just hate the way the application looks. Design and layout of the application mean as much to me as functionality and sometimes I refuse to put an ugly-looking application on my phone. Some developers are good at code but bad at design. You're lucky if you have both skill-sets or access to a designer who can handle the UI.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 SmartRadio seems like a bit of a ripoff as it looks like its just an HTML page with links. Can you actually charge for that??? Am I wrong in my assumption?
Guest nedge2k Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 I think it is too! Bottom left of the screen shot "favorites" Is the app even customizable? Rip off! :? Great news bout all the new developments tho :)
Guest Sonicr360 Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Any tips on how to get streaming radio stations? Is there a web link I could try? This is something I would like alot :)
Guest crimminsky Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 unless you have free GPRS, streaming anything is expensive...do a search for streaming radio on here, I'm sure I've seen it before but I haven't got much time to look for you at the mo. Sorry I can't help much.
Guest ferret Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Is the app even customizable? If it's just a webpage can't you just open it in notepad and edit the code? :)
Guest Coucou Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 I can't remember exactly where but I've got to a radio streaming site through the mobile version of www.coolsmartphone.com before now. Worked ok as well, but it did chew up my GPRS bundle.
Guest nedge2k Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Digitally Imported is one of the best streaming site :)
Guest battletank Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 The post containing the radio station IE links is here. Shouldn't be terribly hard to arrange these in a web page, should anyone find it necessary...
