Guest squall Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 mtekk.com.au are reporting microsoft have released an updated build of ActiveSync. The version number of the release is the same, however the build numbers are different. Read article "Microsoft yesterday released a new build of ActiveSync version 3.7.1. The previous build that was available was build 3244, the one released yesterday is build 4034. I'm not exactly sure what this build improves on or adds on to Active Sync. Maybe it adds support for Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition?" Strange - quite a difference in build numbers, and one would expect a version increment as a result. It certainly does seem feasible that it could include support for new ActiveSync functionality in the new Second Edition ... Download Here
Guest mavisdavis Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004  Still the same build number i'm afraid, no change here after the update Edit: Just followed a different path and found teh propper link. but i forgot to paste it here. sorry all. Can't see any differences tho :)

Guest ppcsurfr Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 If you guys are wondering what'snew about it... Here is the release notes for the new version... The following bugs were fixed in 3.7.1 (4034): • 21711 ActiveSync 3.7.1: Exploring connected device from desktop doesn't show contents in explorer window o This provides better user experience when exploring the device from the desktop. • 44120 ActiveSync 3.7.1: RAPI Crash o This was a fix to eliminate the top reported bug since 3.7.1 shipped • 44130 ActiveSync 3.7.1: 3rd party applications Initializing RAPI Failures o RAPI changes in 3.7.1 had affected some 3rd party applications ability to initialize RAPI. This is now fixed. • 51096 ActiveSync: Icon for Connection manager may be confusing to end users in the ICF popup dialog box o If Internet Connection Firewall is on, this will pop up a warning dialog box when users dock their devices for the first time. Minor UI changes to make this pop-up more friendly and distinguishable. Mabuhay! ~ Carlo
Guest nickcornaglia Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 Here's another new feature of the new build...at least on my PC. AS no longer recognizes my partnership. Only as a guest. So I deleted the old partnership and established a new one. But after I turned my phone off and back on again....GUEST!!!! Deleted ActiveSync...reinstalled. It works the first time...then upon next synchronization...GUEST!!!! When I install ActiveSync I get a UPnP Framework error upon system startup. When I uninstall it...I do not. I tried loading the old 3.7.1 with no luck either. Anyone have a similar problem or know what I can do to fix this?
Guest MPXtricky Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 . . . .know what I can do to fix this? You could try this. Install it, open and then click Tools, Registry Cleaner, Do Them All. Brilliant little app and as it's free anyway, I don't mind posting it hereRegCleaner.zip

Guest SmugX Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 encece, It could be something completely different, but yours was exactly the same problem as I had ages ago - to cut a long story short, a reintall of the Microsoft Data Access compononents from http://www.microsoft.com/data fixed it in the end. Guest SmugX Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 [Moderators: D'oh - I just reported this message by stupidly clicking on the wrong button. Sorry. :D In my defense, the button doesn't ALT text pop up with a hint in Mozilla FireFox, although it does in my IE. Odd?] Anyway, I was trying to edit my message to say: and you try taking a look at the ActiveSync log file - maybe that will have some clues.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Thanks smug....I knew it was on the PC side in the end...I just couldnt figure out what I was missing. I'd try it but I got a new PC. Extreme, I know...but I needed it fixed right away! (just kidding...I did get a new pc but not for that reason!) :D
