Guest matpj Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 hi folks. I know this is probably asked loads, but I cant find specific posts using the search. Basically, I install Activesync and as part of the installation it tries to connect. at this point i put my phone in the cradle. the XP new hardware wizrd then fires up simultaneoulsy with 'USB Device' if I try to install it automatically it doesn't do it. in the mean time Activesync displays the "Your device is not connected" screen. anyone know why this is? do I need to install the phone as new hardware on XP? if so, where are the drivers found on the CD?
Guest martin Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Have you installed a firewall ? If so, try disabling it. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest matpj Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 no firewall. and I disabled the XP one... any other ideas? am I supposed to install the phone using the hardware wizard?
Guest matpj Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 I'm still getting no joy. whwn I plug the phone into the cradle, the XP new hardware wizard comes up. and it says new hardware detected USB Device. shouldn't it recognise it as a smartphone? also if I try to sync up by using ActiveSyn on the mobile, it says "Error: Unable to connect. Verify your Dial-up or Proxy settings are correct, and try again" how am I ever going to get this to work? I have no firewall I installed ActiveSync 3.6 before connecting the phone. can anyone help me?
Guest ferret Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 Did you fully install ActiveSync before putting the phone in the cradle?
Guest martin Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 Also check PC settings in the Activesynch program on the SPV.
