Guest MonkeyJug Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 why would i want them? i own an e200 and it already has a calendar application and a task utility, so is there any reason why i should consider buying these applications on sale from developer one? how are they better than the default programs found on the e200?
Guest ferret Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 Create a new taks or appointment using outlook. Now create a carbon on your smartphone with exactly the same criteria and all the same settings :!: I don't work for developerone by the way :)
Guest JasonKenny Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 I agree with Ferret..if you are a heavy user of calendars/appointment schedulers and sync with Outlook then there is nothing better on the market at the mo. However one nice feature that the standard ap has that power calendar doesn't have it the ability to see a block view of the working week. Regards why would you want to pay for a better version of something that the phone does already....hmm !....it's an 'early adopter' thing ... Jay
Guest MonkeyJug Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 thanks guys. i had all 3 devone apps in my shopping basket last night and when i got to the very last click, having entered all my details, i changed my mind... the thing is, if my phone jumped straight to power calander when i clicked on the appointment display on the main screen instead of linking to the e200's default calander app, then i would probably be swayed over and buy it, but as it stands, it's not truly integrated into the phone. - 'yet'... i'm itching to buy it, but i'm gonna hold off until they sort the little nuance i just mentioned... :)

You can if you use the Orange Homescreen with one slight alteration. Just rename the link in the startmenu from Power Calendar to just Calendar (remove and backup original first).
Guest Santa Fe Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 I think they are a must have for the Smartphone and the devloper promises future updates that will be even better including the ability to go from the homescreen to the calendar. It is also easy to assign a shortcut to it which works just as well (at least on my i600).
Guest JasonKenny Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 It's easy to assign a speed-dial to power calendar to achieve what you are looking for J
Guest comebackdx Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 Last year, I bought Power Tasks and think it's great. I was wondering if Power Calendar is worth getting, as the standard Smartphone Calendar functions are reasonable, in comparison to the derisory Task support?
Guest ferret Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 I think Power Calendar is worth getting if you're heavy user. One thing though is that it lacks the month overview. I contacted the developers and was told numerous people suggested this too, the coders are thinking about it according to developerone. If you're not a heavy user, the in built calendar is better than the task app is to Power Tasks. I think I've made sense
Guest comebackdx Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 If Power Calendar allows you edit tasks with the same details as Power Tasks, would this make the latter redundant. Making the Power Calendar the better buy if put head to head - ie. same functionality?

Making the Power Calendar the better buy if put head to head - ie. same functionality? I've always wondered that, it's a pitty I bought tasks before calendar
Guest comebackdx Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 I've put the following question to Developer One - "I bought Power Tasks last year, and have found it to be a great application, so when Power Calendar came out, I downloaded the trial. Is it the case that the majority of the functionality that you find in Power Tasks is available in Power Calendar? Therefore making the former product redundant with respect to functionality if both were put head to head?" Hopefully this should make my mind up whether to buy it.
Guest Santa Fe Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 One could make do with just Power Calendar but if you have a lot of tasks that you want to review than Power Tasks is a handy way to do so.
Guest comebackdx Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 If Developer One could offer a deal where Power Tasks users could upgrade/migrate/buy Power Calendar for 50% less, then that would seem a bit fairer?
Guest comebackdx Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 Thanks to John at Developer One for getting back to me with the following - "Hi Alan, while there is some duplication of functionality, Power Tasks still excels at managing larger task lists, as it gives you the features to group by date, status, category, etc, making it somewhat of a project manager. Power Calendar is great for enhancing the calendar display with the integrated task display, and if you you frequently have large task lists, Power Tasks can still make a perfect companion to Power Calendar. - john Developer One Software Customer Services [email protected] www.developerone.com"
Guest Dooks Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Is it just me or are their screenshots wrong? I have no way to get the appt time and subject to display on the same line?
Guest Dooks Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Ooh pardon me, found it by setting a key for the "compressed view". Sweeeet.
