Guest dmoney5 Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 Well, Just got my mitac mio 8390 yesterday straight from hong kong. Everything is mostly english except MMS and a few other small programs, Nothing that really bothers me, Never used MMS anyway. Well, I checked out the buttons they look a little funny to me, Like underneith when the backlight is on it looks like the button is coming off from the label or somthing, Like there is airpockets or somthing in between. I was wondering if this is just a defect on my phone or its just the thing with the phone. Other then that, This phone is amazing. Im playing all types of videos on it, Got my MSN and Agile to work with Tmobile Free unlimited Wap. Oh and does anybody have a picture they took with their mitac, My phone camera takes weird pictures. They have some lines in em, I heard somebody say that this phone takes some of the best pics out there. The camera is pretty good, Just sometimes on different light pictures, It has lines. Anyway, Any other advice and tips on this phone would be great. Thanks.
Guest victor8080 Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 Yes you are right, the camera has horizontal lines, and it is not the best part of this phone.
Guest FuNKySoULyBrO Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Can show a sample of the pic tat u had taken?? Btw, does it have english T9? Cuz i heard that taiwanese version of 8390 dun have it, but HK version have, so wanna confirm this.
Guest dmoney5 Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 I have the HK version, It has english T9. I will upload the picture it a little bit....
Guest Nevermore Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 I also recently got the 8390. My keypad looks fine with the backlight on. Nothing I would call defective in appearance. How did you get the phone to work with TMobile GPRS? I can only use the voice related stuff (Calls/SMS), and no setting I use will work for Pocket IE, MMS, e-mail, etc. I would greatly appreciate your help! I've been stressing for days.
Guest mjohns Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 These are the T-Mobile/USA (South GA) GPRS setting that worked for my mio8390. Note, you'll need to setup tzones' my email at t-mobile.com for your email account..tzones will provide a userid to pop from myemail.t-mobile.com--think proxy. I have the unlimited net plan and couldn't get pop to work without using tzones. Guest sabio_proeliat Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 what about voice quality? I've heard that some phones really suck beacause the one you're calling can't hear what you're saying. Any comments?
Guest markgamber Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 I've had friends tell me my 8390 sounds great, much better than the old SE T610 or home phone. It sounds good at my end, too.
Guest Nevermore Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 These are the T-Mobile/USA (South GA) GPRS setting that worked for my mio8390. Â I have the unlimited net plan and couldn't get pop to work without using tzones. Â Awesome. The settings I've been using up until this point were hit-or-miss. These work perfectly! Thank you! I deeply appreciate it.
Guest schriss Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 Forget pictures (I got 3MPixel camera anyway), clock your 8390 at 300MHz with SmartPhoneTurbo
Guest emerica Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Did anyone here tried to play MPEG movies with PocketTV classic here? My Mio 8390 has troubles playing MPEGs with PocketTV Every time i open a MPEG file, the video won't play and my phone just freeze....... Those MPEG i was trying to play was from pocketmovies.net Other than playing MPEG, the phone works great!
Guest schriss Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Forget PocketTV (GAPI is broken and they didn'd provide a workaround). Search forum for BetaPlayer!! It rocks, just select GDI and it will run just fine on your Mio :D
Guest emerica Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 Thanks for telling me that, i think i should quit trying PocketTV then. Does Betaplayer play MPEG too? I have the newest version of the Betaplayer, but i don't think it works with MPEG movies..... If it doesn't, so are there any other player that works with Mio 8390 and does play MPEG?
Guest schriss Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 It doesn't play MPEGs yet, but why bother if it plays Xvid AVIs? :) And it plays MP3 and Ogg with fast forward
Guest Zim Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 After the update the 8390 is a beast once again! lol play doom on it, first without turbo then with! and oh we can see the nvidia chip doing what its ment to be doing!!! "Z"
Guest emerica Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 Yeah! i solved the problem of playing MPEGs, just convert them into AVIs. I have got a great Freeware program of a AVI encoder: PocketDivXEncoder_0.3.40a I forgot where i downloaded it but try searching it on the web. By the way, how did you guys get your 8390s updated? And what kind of updates is that?? If there is a link to the update, please post it, thanks!! I am new to my 8390, that's why i am always questioning, sorry if some of those questions are foolish, LOL.
