mpx220 or E200??? - The million dollar question

My contract is just about up and I've no idea whether to just go straight ahead and pick up an E200 next week or stick with my original SPV until the mpx220 comes out.

The mpx220 sounds like it'll be a much better phone (there are a lot of complaints about the E200) but is there that much point waiting it out until a June (?) release of the mpx220 and when that is released how much will it be? I think I can get the E200 as a free upgrade now.

There is of course the option of trying a non windows smartphone...any ideas? Time's running out on my contract and I really want to make a decision.

I will be facing the same dilemma in May, and my thinking is this:

a) The MPx200 has proved to be a great phone against the odds - i.e. Smartphone 2002, no camera, no Bluetooth

:) The E200 has proved to be a complete turkey with all the odds - joystick, Bluetooth, battery life

c) The game is being raised all the time for mobiles - e.g. a 300k camera no longer cuts the mustard

If the SE P900 didn't use MemoryStick and I needed a new phone right now, that'd be my choice. As it is, I'd wait for the MPx220 to come out and see if it lives up to the hype.

Has the existence of the MPX220 been confirmed now then?

the mpx220 has not been confirmed yet, however the mpx100 looks more promising everyday. The smart phone market is really going to heat up this summer.

I think the two key handsets to watch will be the mpx100 for feature, and the sagem smartphone for price.

Well my contract ran out at the end of January, bujt I've not upgraded to a new phone yet, cause I really don't like the look of the e200 that much, yet I want a Windows smartphone with a decent set of features.

I'm hoping I wont have to wait TOOOOOOOOO much longer. I'll grab the MPX100 or Sagem, whatever I can get my mits on first.

Seem a bit unsure about whether the Sagem has bluetooth or not (different reports in different places) hopefully it will - if so it will defininately be my favourite (as its got a proper size SD slot)

I might get it anyway though...

Main thing that's putting me off the MPX100 is that silly mini-SD slot. Means I'll have to spend a fortune on getting a decent sized memory card, assuming I can even get one at all.

the other thing to remember is no network providers have announced what phone they will carry, so there is always the chance the phones wont be available in the uk

Thats forefront in my mind also... I had to buy a sim free version of my mpx200 because Vodafone don't carry any MS smartphones as far as I know :) and I do have a great deal with voda after talking them around to letting me keep my old tariffs (voda don't ever do a gprs internet package, only one available is a crap Vodafone LIVE! data pack which is useless) Anyways more to the point is the MPX220 ever going to see the light of day ??? I for one don't like candy bar type phones so if not Im pretty much screwed when my contract ends this summer

i'm with gorksar on the sagem/mpx100 question. the moto looks fantastic but personally between bluetooth and proper sd cards, the sd takes it every time.

I think we are going to see the MPX300 before we do the MPX220.
