I haven't been able to get into MSN Messenger since the update either, oh well, can kiss that service goodbye on the phone, well done Orange.

The more and more I use the update the more and more I despair.

Random error messages sending email

MSN very random at the best of times

Stuck on Connecting when using IE (sounds familiar ???)

Orginal update was fine apart from the buzz, which I was slowly getting use to - kinda miss it now in a strange sort of way.

I can't seem to connect to MSN either. Guess I'll have to install Agile...

as you've been saying, problem started when I installed the ROM update. First I couldn't use GPRS at all... phoned orange, they sorted that out for me... but since then I haven't been able to use MSN Msgr at all, no matter where I am, signal strength or nothing. Not even if I've just downloaded mail or visited a website...

Wierd guys. Admittedly I hadn't tried to use MSN Messenger since updating but on trying it this evening it's working fine for me.

Sorry but it's another of these random problems that don't effect everyone.

I did have problems with MSN on the phone since the update, but instead of immediately blaming Orange, I tried on the PC. I've also been having problems there. Mainly for a couple of weeks.

If you are getting probs, check that you can still use it on the PC. Not just log on, using it properly.

It's all too easy to blame Orange for this, but bearing in mind MSN Messenger hasn't changed I really can't see it being the fault of the upgrade.

I agree, but I'm not. Its not Orange's update its MS.

I'd rather be proactive about this, lets try and work out the problem and then we can present our findings to Orange and MS and hopefully somthing will get done.

I'm only having problems on my E200, if I had problems with my PC's then I wouldn't even bother complaining about it here.

It's just my E200 and the reason I'm not happy about it is that as far as I can see nothing has changed on my phone to stop it working (bar the update of course), I have absolutely no problems connecting to GPRS, never had any disconnects whilst downloading email or surfing.

Your right it easy to blame Orange, cause they are usually the cause or the only place to lay the blame as they are responsible for internal testing (which according to a friend who was a tester) is poor like much of the software industry today.

i have the same problems and after speaking to data services @ orange they placed the blame on MS, as they might have updated the service and not told them/us. however with the vast majority of users the service works and before on my old handset before i send that back due to a faulty button it worked even after the update. its deff something on our phones not orange sides.

Hey guys, I had the same problem after upgrading. Called Orange, they said there should be no problem with MSN and the new ROM and suggested a reset (hard reset). I bit the bullet and did this it did not work until I detatched GPRS, disconnected GPRS and restarted the phone. Once I did that it all worked again. Hope this helps.

OK. I haven't been able to connect since the update either. In fact, the first thing I tried before doing anything when I got my SPV out of the box was Messenger. It worked. Since then it has not..... I have gone through the upgrade and 2 hard resets and still every time it is knackered.

UNTIL TODAY....

I did a hard reset, but before downloading the Orange GRPS settings or doing the OTA unlock. I tried Messenger and it worked.

I have now unlocked and re-installed everything, and it still works !

The ONLY thing that is different is that I have left the GPRS settings as default after the hard re-set. As far as I know this means there is no specific DNS settings and that is all....

Does this mean that it is actually the Orange GPRS DNS servers which cannot see the Messenger servers ??????

Anyway, I am one happy bunny. Messenger works, as does PIE etc etc.

As I say the only thing which is different today is that I have not made any adjustment to the GPRS settings since the re-set. Normally I would have logged onto the Orange site and allowed them to send me the settings OTA, and then unlocked the phone OTA as well.

Can anyone else verify, or am I just lucky ???
