Don't get this. I've been taxting abroad for the last couple of years from my Orange phone, and it's always worked fine. Certainly works between the UK and South Africa.

america are quite far behind us in the mobile phone market, you should see how they charge for their tariffs

i guess voicestream/t-mobile never cared to announce this, because i have been texting back and forth with voicestream (now t-mobile) form the US to europe (germany, uk, france, belgium) since 1999. and allways worked fine!!!

i guess at&t announced it because it is a new service with the whole GSM migration which they are doing at the moment.

oh and about the plans here in the USA....

I think I have a pretty good plan with T-Mobile.

Paying $39.99 a month and getting

1000 minutes free

free calling everyday between 9pm to 7am.

free calling on 3 day weekend running from thursday 9pm until monday 7am

Then additional $2.99 per month for 300 text msg free.

and that's pretty much all i need.

Is that expensive? Are the plans in UK a lot cheaper?

50 free sms

120 sms for £8

5mb GPRS, 10 sms, 20 MMS and 5 video msg's for £6
