Assign SMS tone to a contact?

Are there any apps out there that let you assign seperate SMS tones to individual contact.

If not is there anything that will let you assign contacts to groups?

You can assign custom Ring tones to different contacts. Try Caller2Picture program.

Assigning separate SMS tones to contacts? -- I don't know if there is a program capable of doin' this.

you can assign a ringtone to a contact without any additional software, just go to the very bottom of the contact info and you can choose a ringtone for them.

i would love to be able to assign a different sound for each sms contact!!

but then that would require the app to open the sms first right? cuz when it receives a message, it only knows at that point that a sms has been received, not who it's from :)

aaarrghh, on an e100, in edit contact, it will only look for tones in IPSM & not storage card!!!! :shock:

Well that sux don't it. I haven't even bothered to assign different ringers to numbers and find I couldn't if I'd wanted to anyway

it will be great if when we receive sms, an assigned picture will flash like a photo id. i think sony ericsson does that.

thats the .mid files in the Windows folder...

Hi.

Yes I have a working copy. It consists of a C++ dll which intercepts the sms messages and a .NET CF app at the front end which is used to popup a contacts image and display how many times they have txt you.

I am just going through the stages of trying to package it up.

As a privelaged cert is required I am trying to think of a nice way of doing this. Until it is signed, you will require an unlocked phone though I still have to do tests on using a dummy cert.

when I have a package, I will release for testing and hopfully see if any donations can be made for me to get a digital cert.

Will post as soon as I have something to release. wont be too far away now.

Remember your phone MUST BE unlocked.

This is a BETA, backup your data before installing.

Install at your own risk

Expires at end of August.

have installed it but i get a message saying unexpected error has occured in smsnotify i then get the option to quit. i have installed it to my phone not the sd card. any ideas?

Some things to check.

At present, the application expects to be in the path StorageProgram FilesSMSNotify.

If it is not, then it will fail, so check that.

Check that there are 2 dll files in this path as well.

Next check /Storage/Windows to make sure that there are some GAC_OpenNETCF* files

Something else to check is that the registry key (reg editor - http://www.phm.lu/Products/Smartphone/RegEdit/ ) HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/developer.net.nz/SMSNotify exists.

The phone must have a ARM processor and be WM2003 OS

If you get an error in the app, there should eb a details button that can be pressed to spit out a lovely techie message :P

I get the same error message. i'll post the details when i'm on dinner.The path is correct and i have the .dll files but no GAC files in the windows folder.this is the tech details - SMSNotify.exe TypeLoadException frmSplash::.ctor+0x12 Form::.ctor+0x12 Form::Main+0xa.
