Guest segre Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 toh, ironlier ti becco anche qui :-) fammi sapere appena trovi la rom in ita, il mio motorola รจ qui che aspetta ;-) Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Zim Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 Well they are illgal firware updates floating on the web, but i dont recomend you useing them. they are very unstable and can do more harm to your phone. the only thing we can do is wait for the official update from Mitac "Z"
Guest schriss Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 We will wait forever  Here is what Mitac support wrote me: Message:Dear customer, sorry for this, so far we can''t have the plan to update the os. it can support the java game. (Great, stupid java, really great... )
Guest markgamber Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 And that's the bottom line. I don't see what the big deal is about updates, at least it's not the 2002 OS and the only thing the broken GAPI keeps me from doing is playing one game out of the dozen or so I have, half of which are java games. And despite popular opinion, they're not crap. In fact, they're a lot better than most of the win32 native games I've run across to date. In every other way, my 8390 is superior to any other phone I've had the chance to use so far. If you want to see waiting forever for real, check out all the updates for the i600 and, last I checked, the MPx200.
Guest neko Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 one of the main reasons that I brought this phone is because I wish I could play emulators on it. Yes, it means A LOT to me, I really don't need a smartphone that can't deal with games. I hate it. now this phone makes me feel stupid.
Guest schriss Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 I agree. I love this phone, BUT there are lots of games that are superior to java games, I tried ZX Spectrum and Atari 2600 emulators and they don't work. Excellent games like Toki Tori or First Wave do not work. There is A LOT of stuff that do not work  Can't we fix it somehow? Can't someone take the source of gx.dll and modify it to make a special version for Mio 8390 only? Source is few KBs only, I think. Too bad I'm not a programmer  But I can test anything someone will came up with.
Guest the bishop Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 I'm not a programmer either :/ I'm sure any of us could PAY for someone to look at it, but indeed.
Guest Voldemort Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 also this one should be more visited!
Guest markgamber Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 LOL...the phone makes you feel stupid??? Trusting a rom cobbled together by anyone but Mitac would make me feel stupid. Maybe instead of wasting your time here with posts like that you should write Mitac. They're the only people that are going to make any difference and I'd bet a paycheck they don't hang out to be publically berated on some smartphone site or another. I write them every day with any of a half dozen things I'd like to see changed. Maybe they say no today and then post an update tomorrow....who knows, but they're not going to care about what they don't hear about constantly.
Guest Frazzyscot Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 I too bought this phone to play good old emulators, "SNES games at full speed, Woohoo". Should have looked on Modaco before I bought it I guess. Wonder if Mitac are going to start bringing out laptops that aren't compatible with DirectX as that's what they've effectively done with this phone. On a slight tangent, anyone know a good place for Java games that use the full screen instead of those piddly games made for smaller screens?
Guest Voldemort Posted May 31, 2004 Report Posted May 31, 2004 don't u think mitac should have someone employed just to check what we say about them here on modaco and in other websites?
Guest schriss Posted June 27, 2004 Report Posted June 27, 2004 Mitac is so lazy... they have new ROM in new 8390 they sell recently but they do not release that ROM for others... at least we managed to fix GAPI issue :D
