Guest Homerus Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004  Wow, did I understand well that one can watch full lenght feature films on the 8380??? I can't even get it to work like it should! I've bought it second hand from ebay and up till now, I can only use as a conventional cell phone. I have installed active sync 3.6. on my desktop but it doenst work. Is there anything else I need to do?? (Do I have to install a driver of some sort?) Anyways, how does one watch a full lenght film on it and how to store the mpeg on the sd cards. Sorry..i'm a newbee :)
Guest Maverick Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Did u connect the cradle to ur PC and put the phone in the Cradle for activesync to work? ;-) You can use pocketMVP to watch movies encoded in divx format. Just do a search on the forum for pocketMVP or divx to get more info.
Guest Homerus Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Aaah the cradle...Thx mate! I did connect it only with a retractable sync cabel directly to my pc. So, how can I upload stuff into my phone now (or on the sd card-I have a 1Gb one...); like sounds and games, apps?
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 Or use PocketTV. To encode full-length movies, use the Simple Guide for making MPEG files optimized for Smartphone. It has templates specially optimized for Smartphone. Typically a full 90min movie will take 100 to 200 MB depending on the audio and video quality you want. However... we have heard that the 8390 has a problem preventing to use PocketTV (and PocketMVP), due to a possible issue with GAPI (see http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?p=391055#391055).
Guest Homerus Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 ok :? Now, does anybody knows how to use Active Sync? The helpfile doesn't work so it's pretty hard to get it to work as it should. After I choose a standard or other (can't remenber) connection, I get this screen. Anubody knows what happens next? I want to upload some sounds and mpegs/divx-es on my phone. HOW DO I DO THAT :?:a.s.jpg
Guest The PocketTV Team Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 Just click on "Verkennen" (or "Explore" in english). It will open a window showing you the files in the "Ly Documents" folder your Smartphone. Then just drag and drop files from the PC to this window to copy them on the device. If you have a Storage Card in the Smartphone, you can see it by opening "My Device" or "My Smartphone" in this window. So you can copy files directly to the Storage Card this way.
Guest rahduke Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 its real easy to put whole movies on your phone as long as you have a large sd card. Mines is a 512 firstly what you wanna do is find a small source file anything under 400mbs then u use the guide listed above and you'll also have to cut the movie into 4 parts once its converted to get on the phone eaiser. Just had finding nemo on mine deleted it to put the FBO release of secret window

Guest The PocketTV Team Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 > btw, how can i cut a movie in 4 pars? Wich software can i use for this purpose? The MPEG converter, tMPGEnc, has an "Advanced Setting" that you can use to encode only a certain range of frames. Look for "Source Range" in "Settings > Advanced". You can then encode 4 different ranges. > however, this is what I get when following your instructions..;any idea in wich folder i can do what? Thx again! Go in IPSMMy Documents (or the equivalent in this language). But probably that's already where you are in "Mobiel apparaat". You can check by copying a file there.
Guest Homerus Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 ok, so I installed pocketTv on my mio 8380 and I tried to use tMPGEnc on the movies I have stored on my desktop. It didn't work as I found out that those are avi files (works with wmp) instead of mpegs. Any idea how I can convert those (if nescesary) Never thought this would take me so long to see moving images on this freaking phone. It's beginning to annoy me! :x
