How do I get the smartphone emu to look at local machine?

Hi,

I've got a couple of web-sites running on my machine via Tomcat and using virtual hosts. I cannot get the smartphone emulator to see sites on my machine but I can get it to see external sites. Does anybody know where I can get information on how I could get to do this?
