xphone stuck in flight mode

Anyone seen this problem before? I've tried the obvious, like turning flight mode off, shut down, restart, etc. it won't come out of flight mode. I have tried to do a hard reset, but even following the instructions posted on this site, I am unable to reset. I do not receive a menu after pressing the action key, it goes straight to the tri-banded color screen.

You haven't tried to apply an update and failed have you?

Do you have an SD card in when trying to do a hard reset? Sometimes it helps...
