I don't want to fill this forum with "yet another" game suggestions page, so I'm hosting this discussion on my own forum. Guests can reply, so no worries there.

I'm working on an Ultra Retro Game Collection.. It's a remake of a similar collection for Windows, which you can download from the topic below.

Using the screenshots/download provided, and a little imagination, try to come up with the best games you can. (or just post a list of your favorite games :))

Tron was the second game I added, and Pang(Bubble Trouble) is more or less working. I just need to add the rope in..

How about some classics like Asteroids, Galaxian and Moon Cresta.

What's Moon Cresta!?

But the other two are on my list..

I'm thinking of getting Sprite Rotation going, so Asteroids would be perfect for that...

if you use theoriginals 2d line drawing then you dont need sprite rotation :)

Yeah, but I figured Sprite Rotation would be a handy thing to have :)

I'll probably end up doing Asteroids + Thrust with Vector's, but for the minute I'm working with sprites..

I'll be using tanks, as opposed to monkeys and bananas..

Always seemed more fun to me when you got to destroy the landscape..

Check out Super Trooper, someone beat you to it and in full 3D too. :)

Lander or something similar might work well.

What about some of the old C64 type games. Some of those were great. Probably a bit too big though.

Retro : Rommels revenge :D

There was a game for the Vic20 that we used to love.

It was called Missile Panic where you went round a maze picking up a little dot that appeared at different places.

You were also chased by a missile that got faster and faster as you got more dots.

I remember it making real hectic play - especially as the missile went "bleep" as it moved - so it got faster and faster like a heartbeat - hunting you down - showing no remorse - getting faster and faster... arrgghhhhh - its all coming back to me...

i was only 10 at the time though...

I like the Missile Panic idea.. I'll have to look that one up. Sounds kewl..

Chuckie Egg and Alex Kid.. I want to make a good platformer..

JNKPlat will not be my only platform game. I am planning something pretty interesting..

"Planned Level" platform games of the Egg/Kid/Sonic/Mario/Whatever variety won't be included in my collection, since I think it works better with the "Random Level"/"Repeating Screen" style ones.. (think Bubble Bobble/Donkey Kong... Not that I'm saying they're gonna be in, mind!)

I'm keeping all platform ideas by the side though, just incase I run out :D

I tried doing Pool yesterday... WOW that was hard! When I started it I was thinking "Balls, Table, Pockets.. What could be easier!! The Speccy could manage it.. How hard could it be!?" And then I suddenly started to realise that I didn't have the foggiest idea how to actually code realistic Pool-ball physics..

Don't expect that to arrive in any of the early releases!!

Retro games... heh that's like asking a kid to list the candy they like... okay I'll try to keep the list small. Sorry if any of these have already been done.

Dizzy

Magic Knight Series

Final Fantasy

Lemmings

Yoda Stories

Simon

Risk

Abes Odysee/Prince of persia

Mario Kart

F-Zero

Jet Pac

Jumping Jack

Sim City (although I don't think anyone could poss. make this for my MPX200)

Spy Hunter

Breakout

Painter

That game with the bouncing balls and the deflecting mirrors - like Chu Chu Rocket

Trap Door

Boulder Dash

Also, and this is prolly way too hard;

I once had a game for my Atari STe that involved building robots from logic gates and sensors and motors. You could then make them interact with arenas and environments. That would be cool.

Lets go through the list, shall we?

Dizzy : I'd like to.. But not in this pack. It'd become too big. As a seperate thing in it's own right, yeah, possibly..

Magic Knight Series : Never played.. Any explaination would be handy :D

Final Fantasy : WAY too big ;)

Lemmings : I'd have to get a decent cursor going, or maybe an alternative way of playing.. I've always found it unplayable without a Mouse, myself.

Yoda Stories : Is that the one that I vaguely remember as being "A bit like Valhalla on the Amiga"?

Simon : The "Push the 4 buttons" game? I'd forgotton about that.. Yup.. I'll do that

Risk : !

Abes Odysee/Prince of persia I'm purposely steering away from Platformers... Sorry!

Mario Kart : I got a little Top-Down Grand Prix thing going. Dunno how well I could get a 3D style effect going.

F-Zero : ditto

Jet Pac + Jumping Jack : Again, no platformers right now..

Sim City (although I don't think anyone could poss. make this for my MPX200) : Dunno.. Sim City (classic) is actually pretty basic... Just for variety's sake, If not a city, what else?? Sim School, Sim CornerShop, Sim Bank, Sim Pub, Sim Duckpond!!!?

Spy Hunter : That's the "It's actually a Vertical Shooter, but if we draw a road, they'll think it's a racer" one, isn't it? We'll see.

Breakout : Planned. But more as Asteroids, since I tend to get bored with just bricks :D

Painter : I had planned on doing "Oh Mummy", but, actually, Painter was always that little bit better. OK.. You've twisted my arm

That game with the bouncing balls and the deflecting mirrors - like Chu Chu Rocket : .. I could manage Chu Chu :P

Trap Door : As in, Based on the TV Show? Never played it.. What's it like?

Boulder Dash : I played a really old Windows game once.. I think it was called KYE, or something. Odd name. It was Like Boulderdash, but the rocks had arrows on them, and "fell" in that direction. It made the puzzles that bit more interesting. I'll see if I can find it. But yeah, Boulderdash (or alike) is planned..

Keep 'em coming..

Trap Door

I'm not doing platformers because

A) I've only just (more or less) finished off JNKPlat (give or take a few extra Block-types, and another bunch of levels)

:D I'm working on a larger platformer, titled "Platdude Spheres"....

So I've got enough Platforming going on, really..

And yes.. Thanks to Zimbu, I too had the Trap Door theme stuck in my head for an extraordinarily long time..

And.. now it's in there again!!
