Are you connected with Activesync with your internet connection set to pass-thru on the phone? If you can`t get OTA to work, it should work connected to Activesync. Just make sure your phone is connected to the internet through your computer by going to a webpage on the phone.

I personally think Orange did something on the last e200 update OR at the same time.

I am on the east coast and OTA does not work at all. But strangely, it did work days before the update.

Maybe they are now blocking non-orange numbers from unlocking.

I tried with GPRS on...and off

Pass thru connections.

+1 5556667777

+15556667777

1 5556667777

15556667777

None of the combinations worked.

But why do you need to unlock? Doesnt it allow you to install unsigned apps? (After selecting 'Yes' for the warning message).

Anyway, I'll give it a try to see if they are blocking Non O numbers.

UPDATE : Just unlocked my phone a few minutes back. I am in India and on a non-Orange network (Airtel).

Yep...trying it for the third time right now connected to the internet. It just isn't working...not sure. I emailed Orange and am waiting for a response...

Maverick:

For development.

By the way, I assume if I set it to connect via passthrough, and I don't see a G in the top right...it's using passthrough?

Give it a try with +01. I don't think O is blocking Non O numbers.

Austin519, Does this allow us acess to the Privilaged API's ? I dont think so.

O is trying to make some money out of it by selling it as their API ( Refer to API Zone in http://www.developers.orange.co.uk/devzone )!! What a bunch of losers.

Okay...tried it...no go. And shame on them! What are they thinking?!?

martin:

Okay tried both...checked the settings, tried an SMS. I didn't get the SMS (but I know they work because I sent myself one from another phone here in the US, and I sent one to a friend). So I guess they don't do out of country calls? I don't know...I hope this doesn't mean I'm screwed.

I agree that you dont really need the phone unlocked thanks to the prompt mode security on the e200. The only reason I needed to unlock was so that I could take all of the shortcuts in the start menu and move them all to categorized folders, which isnt allowed with the shortcuts for the programs in ROM when the phone is app locked.

...it should definitly work if you download the little application it offers, once you unsuccessfully try to unlock your e200 on the page. i was going through that process with a far away friend in italy (also a non orange user who has installed the uk e200 rom on his qtek 8080 and the imei number is definitly unknown for orange) last night.

after the notification that "Sorry but we are unable to find the IMEI number that you have entered on our database" there is point 2 saying:

2. You have connected to the Internet and you still cannot unlock

You will need to download a short Registry application, which will initiate full registration of your handset.

download and install and then it should work as it does on the 8080 with e200 rom last night...

let us know if that solved your problem.

cheers, lutz

I have an O2 Xphone & that's what I needed to do in order to get the OTA to work. I'm in Texas & I have hard reset my phone several times & have been able to unlock it OTA using O's website every time. The only thing I do is make sure that I have connected at least once to the interenet, and by that I mean physically surfed to a website like MSN mobile etc.

when you do a hard reset/rom upgrade the phone is blank - then you have to establish a active sync partnership, go to the site above and run the process. you are connected to the web automatically via active sync when the phone is connected to active sync and a partnership exists.

i think the problem goes down to the imei-regulations. e.g. the qteks have another imei range than the e200 from orange. you can solve that by using the little application they offer on the site you get after the failed decertification process.

It suppose it could be a problem with receiving the SMS on your network.

Anyone tried it with a SIM from another network provider?

yes, me- on vodafone germany and vodafone italy. both have nothing to do with orange and worked properly without any problem.

Sorry, I meant another provider in the US :)

It's difficult to believe that the developer site would NOT send the SMS to the US but will send it to everywhere else in the world therefore I would be inclined to say that the SMS IS being sent out but not arriving at it's destination. It could be the network provider not passing it on ?

I wonder if anyone has tried an AT&T SIM.

EDIT (encece): PENDING EXPLANATION

Also...just fyi I received the message as soon as I rebooted my phone. No idea why but I'm pretty sure I had to reboot it to get that msg. How weird. Maybe it WAS unlocked and it just needed to reboot before it was successful?

encece:

There was a lot it would not even allow me to change without unlocking it.

lutzh:

I never saw the app you are talking about but I did get one from a friend and it worked like a charm.

There's definitely been a change in the way the Orange is operating. I'm on AT&T I was able to app-unlock my E200 last winter OTA using my +1 phone number. Now, coinciding with the release of the upgrade, this fails to function, i.e. my phone never gets the SMS. I've emailed Orange numerous times asking for clarification and have gotten no response.

It pisses me off because I paid Orange full price for a completely unlocked developer phone which is now partially locked (expected) and cannot be unlocked via normal methods (unexpected).

I cannot do it here, It does show on my phone that it should be unlocked. But it is not. Cannot install the LCD Plugin...

Error is " Installation Failed. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate "

I have now " unlocked " it around 8 times from both OTA links.

I have no idea what to do next.

Also the Disable Security app will not run.......

Anyone Else got any ideas?

By the way im in the UK / Ireland. Genuine Orange Customer. E200 Updated
