Guest RobPowell Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 hi guys okay I transferred some wav files to the same folder as the other ring tones, as I wanted to use my own wavs for my ringtone. Yup, they go in well. Yup, I can see them in sounds setup and select them. BUT after a short while (couldn't tell you how long) it reverts back to the crappy ladida or whatever it is. Is there any way of chosing and keeping my ring tone? tia!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 welcome to your first post :) Ringtones need to be stored in the IPSMApplicationSounds folder (or if you have 2003 on your phone change IPSM for Storage) What you have done is place ringtones into the main Windows folder, this folder gets rewritten on every start up so anything you place in there will be deleted.
Guest RobPowell Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 Thanks for the welcome :) ahh so doesn't delete the files, just the associations? Cause they stay in there and I can re-link to em. Cool I'll move them!! BTW this is happening without restarting the phone, cause I never turn it off!! Now just gotta find the games I want like bubble puzzle and work out how to get my contacts from my tmobile over easily (I aint payin £20 to sim unlock just for contacts LOL) and I'll be chuffed!! This is such an awesome site, such content!! Wowsers.... edit: never NEVER question a mod LOL yes I just rebooted and they were deleted. Does that mean that if I delete their wavs they will be restored? Just trying to save space... Also, is IPSM the removable media or the storage card? My phone seems to think the storage card is part of the phone, and that the IPSM is the removable media. Confoooozed
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 If your phone runs 2002 you will have a folder called IPSM if you have 2003 ie an E200 you will have a folder called Storage. This is the phone's internal memory and the storage card will be called Storage Card :) Also do not bother removing anything from the main Windows folder as you are correct it will be replaced after a reboot.
Guest pd.ryder Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 Try "Orange Update" and install Contact Wizard. It's absolutely fantastic at ripping names and numbers out of phones over IR - phone memory and SIM card. Works with any phone with an IR port.
