Guest James Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 Thats Right! a T9 Auto Backup and restore app is now here. Another Great T9 App from MoDaCo Member 'stevekay'! Read Below:- and make sure you follow 'EDIT 2' at the bottom of the Quote when you install it. I have created a new program - T9Monitor. Copy T9Monitor.exe into StoragewindowsStartUp and restart the phone or execute from SmartExplorer. This will monitor StorageApplication DataSystemmst9.udb for the addition of words. When a new word is added, it automatically backs up the database to StorageMy Documentsmst9.udb. This means that your backup is always up to date!! On startup the application will check to see if the database exists and if it doesn't OR it contains 0 words, it will automatically restore the backup. Please note that it was compiled using eVC 4.0 (all I have at home) and will therefore only work on WM2003. UPDATED: Now compiled using EVC 3.0 so should work on 2002 as well. I have also rearranged the code and changed the logic so that the Master db gets over written when there are no words in it. The backup gets updated when the number of words in the master is greater than the back up. This does have the side effect of having to kill the app if you want to upload a new db (if the number of words is fewer) - but it can be restarted easily enough. EDIT 2: Pagemakers has pointed out that as this is untrusted it needs to be run once so that you can confirm that you are allowing this untrusted code to run. Best way is to run it using Smart Explorer or creating a shortcut on the menu. Download HERE.
Guest kjk Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 don't work on 2002 i just get error ' unable to open the file. The system return the error ''Unknown error''! i've qtek7070 with qtek 1.5 rom
Guest www.msmobiles.com Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 would it be possible to add backup to "Storage Card" (to SD card)?
Guest James Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 thats a shame... unfortunally the developer or me do not have a 2002 phone.. :) Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 Hmmm well it's running in the background on my phone (2002) .. but I can't seem to find the backup file .. it's spose to be in StorageMy Documents ... but I've checked and I can't see it .. I've added a bunch of words after installing, so it should make a back-up ... (of course it's IPSMMy Documents in 2002 ... but I'm sure you've taken that into account! *WINK*) Anywayz .. when I run the program it doesn't say anything, doesn't give an error or anything like that .. just starts running in the background, like it's spose to do!
Guest James Posted March 31, 2004 Report Posted March 31, 2004 hummm.. good point about the directory issue. that could be the problem with 2002... ? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest pisquee Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 Can you add a feature fo it to check at regular intervals and backup/restore as necessary. Another thought, how about instead of overwriting one file with another, to merge the files - that way no words go missing. haven't installed the ap (am just about to) so these comments may be irrelevant. Also, if msmobiles is "currently banned" how has he just posted a message?!
Guest elvie Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 Wow, this works, more than I can say for the T9 editor over at CoolSmartPhones Here at least it didb't work for me!! Great app, but how oftern does it back up the mst9.udb file? Or de we just re-run the programe before switching off the phone?
Guest Rob.P Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 The selected Attachment does not exist anymore That's what the site is telling me anyway.
Guest nedge2k Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 Found it ***HERE*** Go to the bottom of the page
Guest stevekay Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 As the author of BOTH T9Monitor AND T9Editor I thought that I'd better put my two-penneth in :D . Both applications have been updated in the last week and are posted in the later pages of the Erase T9 Dictionary topic under (device specific E200). The latest version of T9 Editor is HERE. And the latest T9 Monitor is HERE. (At the bottom of the page). The T9 Editor released on CoolSmartPhone was the initial BETA release and as such had a few bugs in it and didn't support MPX 200 at all. The latest version has now been tested by forum members on SPV, E200 and MPX 200 without too many hassles. The T9 Monitor works on all smartphones so far, but a few people have come across weird problems which I am looking into  :!: As with all software that is a work in progress please ensure to back up the T9 database before using either tool. Steve PS: Any bugs/comments please do not hesitate to PM me...
Guest pizdyetz77 Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 what does this do? An educated guess would be that it allows your phone to remember words input under 'abc' in T9 forever rather than being deleted every so often. Am I right? GH
Guest nedge2k Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Well obviously education wasn't lost on you
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Well obviously education wasn't lost on you  ROFLMAO
Guest pizdyetz77 Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 I'll let my parents know. They'll be ever so proud.
Guest Johnbe Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 well for me it does, erm, nothing. I know I'm obviously missing something, but hey, that's what happens. Run the t9editor.exe, hourglass spins briefly then...nothing, nada, zip, zilch. Please, what am I not doing right?
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 It's not spose to "do" anything. The program just runs in the background monitoring your T9 file. When you add a word to the t9 file (by entering the word in abc mode in an sms) - the program backs up the t9 file ... and should this file be deleted or reset (which it does every now and again) - the program restores it with the latest backup it has taken!
Guest Johnbe Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Sorry, meant t9editor didn't do anything. the monitor program seems to be doing the job (well, no lost t9 words so far, instead of every few hours like normal). the monitor program has become a must-have - predictive text suddenly becomes useful again!
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 Ah okay ... hmmm works fine on my comp! There is a new T9 Editor for the PC out tho .. check the software forum, you might have more luck with that one!
Guest Johnbe Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 I presumed t9editor was for the phone, not the PC. Did I make a fundamental error here?
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 I presumed t9editor was for the phone, not the PC. Did I make a fundamental error here? Yes ... T9 Editor is for the PC ... T9Monitor .. for your phone.
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 Hmmm experiencing serious Memory Leak even with the latest version...
Guest Johnbe Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 Mem leak with t9monitor? I've had a few serious phone crashes recently too, which I was meaning to have a look at when I get time; sort of presumed it was t9mon causing it.
