Yes it is an April Fools joke, happy April Fools day everyone, and don't worry, Nokia won't be buying the site :-)

It has been announced this morning that MoDaCo Smartphone has been acquired by Nokia Mobile Phones.

In light of these developments, from midday GMT today, the forums will be undergoing transition - all Microsoft Smartphone related posts will be purged, and the site will be restructured to reflect the Nokia / Symbian platform.

Speaking this morning, founder of MoDaCo Smartphone, Paul O'Brien:

MoDaCo has long been associated with the Smartphone community, and we are looking forward to continuing this tradition with our new Nokia / Symbian focus.

I feel that we are taking the right decision by 'switching sides' as it were, as Nokia really are at the forefront of the Smartphone revolution with their innovative phones and their sensibly designed keypads.

With the raw processing power and memory available, we are sure that Series 60 will become the leading Smartphone operating system.

Device agnostic .net Compact Framework is clearly not the way forward, developers are far happier tweaking their J2ME code for each individual device.

What more is there to say...

Welcome to MoDaCo [Nokia] Smartphone!

:)

Why????? what happened to your sense of appreciation to all of us MS Smartphone users who made this forum a hit Paul?

Staying neutral and offering both sides would have been a better option than selling out to Nokia.

Guess we have noc hoice now but to migrate to our own Pinoy MS Smartphone forum *airfagev*

That's life! Things change overnite

Well what can I say, as usual money speaks louder than the loyalty of the people that have made this site such a huge success!!

See how everyone will suddenly leave! MS phones are Smartphones, Symbian is tarted up Psion OS for people who think Atari games are "cutting edge".

This was a good site, now gonna be a haven for poor quality games, tacky ringtones, and Escort XR3i wallpaper.

Shame really.hope you got a fair price for it!

This is fantastic news.

MoDaCo goes from strength to STRENGTH :)

I believe an agreement has already be reached where midnight will cease work on the MS Smartphone and concentrate on the Nokia platform.

* KUMITE on the 6600 * :lol:

How much was it bought for?

The reason I ask is I would make a higher offer than poxy Nokia could afford

Hehe. Finally I can come out of the closet and admit that I am in love with the sleek lines and great versatility of the N-Gage :)

Now if I can only 'rebadge' my E200... sure I can fit the word Nokia in there somewhere...

You forgot to mention the part where the flying monkeys distibute free Win mobile 2003 Nokia's to all Smartphone owners.

I cant wait, it will be like a scene from Rama and Sita or Wizard of Oz with monkeys all over the shop.

Long live disconected people!!!!!!!!

Hurah!!!
