Guest actionj Posted April 1, 2004 Report Posted April 1, 2004 so... I have been on this forum standing up for the MPX200, lauding it's pda features. Hell I was playing movies on my phone, games, reading ebooks and in heaven. I have been upset that it does get poor reception and does not support the 850 band on AT&T, but overall i have been baffled by all the problems people have been having. and then it happened I came to work, plugged in my phone to sync and then looked down at my phone and it said "sim card error" Confused I opened my phone and my sim card was in place and the little plastic things were still in place. I air dusted the phone for dust and took out and put back in the SIM card and restarted the phone and the phone would take like 10 minutes to start up and then give another SIM error. I tried everything and nothing would work. Baffled I decided to finally do my first hard reset. After the hard reset, the phone would almost finish starting up and then just "reboot" and start the process over. Then the battery died and would not charge and is now completely dead. I am baffled. luckily the local att&t store gave me a loaner phone while I sort things out. I will post my findings about how willing AT&T is to send a replacement phone. Looks like i need to buy a backup phone that I know works well until a reliable smartphone comes out
Guest actionj Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 so I got a new phone from at&t. It costs $25 no matter what to get a new phone sent out no matter what, which I think is complete crap. Then when I finally got the phone, I was so excited that I finally had a phone again that I didn't check the phone over very much before I sent my faulty one back. Come to find out: while the new mpx200 looks good cosmetically, the phone suffers from a few glaring problems that have been discussed many times in the forum including: backlit keys does not work humming noise sometimes comes from keyboard looks like i'll have to play an endless game of trading out the mpx200s...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 backlit keys does not work humming noise sometimes comes from keyboard This is actually one and the same problem, the phone should have been checked before they sent it out to you if it was a refurb. Otherwise strange to happen to a new unit.
Guest pimpsterific Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 ive had that problem, but mine was more detailed and went alot further.
Guest TANKERx Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 I didn't have the humming, but I had the backlit keys problem and the battery wouldn't last ten minutes without it giving me warnings about low battery (warnings it would give me for hours on end). Got it replaced and so far, no problems.
