Wouldn't it be great if we could manage to make an Mode 7 graphics engine?

you might be asking Mode 7 what the XXXX is that?

well mode 7 is the a graphical mode used mostly on Snes systems , it is an ability to rotate sprites , an good example is F-zero for the snes

i have got the feeling the graphics potential is rather high and maybe it can even be used to build a great racer like f-zero , also since it still uses 2dimensional coordinates it might be easier to calculate it all.

so does anyone either know a engine already capable of this OR is willing to build one? i am a good programmer , but not with graphics :)

Right, I dont know how to program in any way shape or form but you mentioned SNES. Maybe you could have a look into the source code of the snes emulator.

Sorry if I am on the wrong wave length but i dont have a clue about programming

Currently i am working on an kinda diffrent engine , a more triangle 3d rendering engine , no textures but lines etc drawn solid on the screen...

you can think of Starfox on the snes , only a bit more primitive i guess

i am trying to do my best and make something good out of this , i will release the game as a cheap thing ;)...

maybe i will open source the engine once it is done, it will support 2d wireframe models (maybe 3d soon), 3d map (with buildings made out of walls etc)...

and more :D

but first the game... it will be a space kinda shooter like starfox all i can say about it now
