Setting up an IRC channel

I'd like to add an IRC channel for the users of my website (www.graffiticlassics.com) but I'm very new to IRC. I've had a mess around with mIRC and have the basics down but I can't find info on how to set up and manage IRC channels.

Could someone please point me in the direction of a good tutorial or explain the process I would need to go through to get a channel set up and managed.
