Guest dude Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 Hey, Just getting into the skinning/homescreen lark and quite enjoying it :) Going to have a crack at my own homescren first me thinks  Im rather new to XML but from what Ive seen it doesnt look too difficult Just a couple of questions, hope you can help - WMPlayer Skin - Have not been able to get any skin to work including .cab installers, Have i missed something really simple? Limitations - What parts/areas of the SPVE200 can you not touch/customize? Is it possible to place 2 plugins horizontally together in the same section? ie | Carrier Plugin | Alarm Plugin | Or is it only able to allow | Carrier Plugin | | Alarm Plugin | Hope that makes sense. Cant remember reading anywhere about it so thought might ask. Templates - There was some PSD templates posted in a thread a while back which were also availible on Midnights site but unfortunately arent there now. Could anybody post or send me these please? Ill gladly stick them on some of my unused webspace for all. Thanks again
Guest drblow Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 Hello m8! OK - in order ... WMPLayer skins - I have heard previously that these don't work on the e200. Not sure why. You can customise pretty much any screen on the e200, with the exception of screen attatched to apps, such as the reminder/alert screen. Install one of the complete skin cabs (mac OS, brushed 11th, futurama etc) and you will be able to see all the images for screens which are used. As a good introduction to making your own screens, its not a bad idea to just install someone's skin, and then copy over your own images into the relevant folder. Saves having to do all the regedit yourself! On the e200 you can use the Orange plugin to have horizontal plugins. I think you can set the width of each so they will appear on the screen simultaneously (the way the IE shortcuts work), but by default the plugins scroll across the screen horizontally. See my cobalt theme (in the homescreen download section) for a full 'how to' on the Orange plugin. All other plugins just position vertically. OK??!! :)
Guest dude Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Cheers for that! Hvae had chance to have a look at some homescreens and...WOW! Am really impressed! Think Im gonna have to sit down and design one now! Have had a look at your Cobolt skin doc, nice!!! Just clarifying that plugin, see if I understand it - Say I had the Carrier Plugin in the middle row, I could scroll left on the jstick and the Alarm plugin would appaer then jstick right back to the Carrier and maybe right again to the Appointments Plugin? Is that plausible or have I just completeley got it downside up?! Thanks again, time to put some designs skills to work :D
Guest drblow Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Em ... not quite sure what you mean m8!? Rows go vertically (up/down) and the Orange plugin allows proxying of multiple plugins in 'columns', which go horizontally (left/right). The default Orange homescreen, or my cobalt skin, on the phone will show you exactly how they work. You can display as many plugins as you like in a horizontal line (I think), but the phone starts freakin out at more than a couple. For the sake of not slowing the phone down ot a crawl I have found its better to stick pretty much to the format of one plugin per column. Hope that makes it a bit clearer?? As mud probably :D . Give us a shout if you need any more help.
