Orange trainers - you gotta laugh!

Just a wee story about my experience in the Orange shop today ...

Just went in to pay me bill, you know - blokey was serving someone else, so I had to wait a minute. While waiting I couldn't help overhear that the person in front was looking at an e200 & a P900, comparing the 2 and trying to decide which to buy. I almost burst out laughing when the "Orange phone trainer", said that the e200 & P900 were basicallky the same phone, except the P900 has an mp3 player!! :) As if then to add insult to injury he said that the e200 was very reliable and was their best selling model!! :lol: Thankfully the person decided not to decide today - as I was reluctant to get involved, but felt a moral duty to intervene if the situation had gotten any more intense!! :lol:

When it came to my turn to be served, just for laughs, I told the bloke I had an e200, and I was having some problems with it, and had been told by tech support that there would be a 'firmware update' released soon. His brow furrowed, and he silently mouthed the word 'firmware'! :lol: I said, thats an update to the software to fix problems. He said that he knew thats what it was, he was just trying to think about what he had heard about it. He then said that he was pretty sure that an update would be released for the e200, and they were working on one now, but there was no release date set yet, and he reckoned it would be sometime in the next few months. :lol: :lol: Quite literally shaking with holding in my laughter, I hastily exited the shop a ran away to where I could explode in tears without the poor wee fella hearing me! Bless 'em! :lol:

Orange phone trainers train ... em, what was it again?? :lol: You gotta laugh! Now what I want to know is, who trains the people who train Orange phone trainers ... coz they need some training!! :lol:

BTW - I live in Edinburgh too! It was the Orange shop at Ocean terminal!

Lol - my Photoshop CS is knacked - so i had to make do with "paint" :) !!

THe ocean terminal Orange Shop is nice :!: I make to with Princess Street - the guys in there seem to know what theyre talking about............most of the time :roll: lol

All i can say is not all us "Phone trainers" are nerds, we're still sales consultants on our contracts - not there for tech support - thats why we have a dedicated tech support department. However, with co-operation and understaning from our customers we're happy to try to work our way through problems customers may be facing as quickly as we can. Not once have I seen the word firmware in any of the training literature I have read through and we are not expected to know what firmware is but there are some of us who are aware of more in depth aspects of phones such as this. Just my two cents...

But what annoys me most is when a phone trainer obviously doesn't know what s/he is on about and just makes something up.

Only once have I been told, "Sorry Sir, I don't know what you are talking about", which is far better in my opinion.
