Guest someone Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 I've just put the Motorola MPx220 and the SPV E200 alongside each other (sorry for the crappy picture quality). I am wondering if the MPx220 really is going to be as big as in comparison to the SPV E200, or is it just the screen that's smaller? I expected the MPX220 to be a bit larger than the MPx200 because of the 1.4 Megapixel camera and flash, bluetooth etcetera, but this looks huge... :shock:MPx220 vs E200 (2).JPG
Guest squall Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 nice pics, can i ask how you are lucky enough to have an mpx220? what processor is in it? any chance of a full review/ spec list etc?
Guest someone Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Oh, hehe I'm sorry, but this is just a picture of the MPx220, unfortunataly I am not the owner of it... I grabbed the pic from a post on this site, you see. But, yes, I would be very lucky if I had one :D cheers
Guest squall Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 kind of figured that, but thought id ask anyway. those pics are not to the same scale !
Guest someone Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Well, I cropped the picture of the E200 till the size of its screen was the same as that of the MPx220.
Guest bosshogg Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 You've taken the size of the e200 screen to include the soft keys, the soft keys on the 220 are on the bottom half of the phone.
Guest midnight Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 bosshog, errr, no, thats not true, the e200 doesnt include the softkeys, just the display :D but...... the top half of the phone is at an angle (like all flip phones so it curves around your head), if you want a closer representation compare the widths of the screens ;)
Guest mattscholey Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 It still makes it look absolutely huge. These pics are artists impressions, so maybe that's why? And do we actually know if we'll ever see the mpx220 yet, because every day I come closer and closer to giving up on waiting for this phone, and buying a P900 or 8390 or something instead. Matt
Guest squall Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 still not been confirmed, but remember the mpx100 has been anounced and looks sweet
Guest mattscholey Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 It does seem very functional, but I really want a clamshell phone. What do you think the chances are of this phone never hitting the market, and when do you think we might see it? I think that it's likely that Motorola want to get people to buy the 100, have it for 6 months, and then upgrade to the 220, which will have just been released. Any ideas? Matt
Guest MECX Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Yeh the E200 is alot fatter than in that pic as well (look at the action key it should be round) your right tho that 'MPX220' looks big--but is it really an MPX220 ;) :P . MPX100 all the way baby :D
Guest someone Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 but...... the top half of the phone is at an angle (like all flip phones so it curves around your head), if you want a closer representation compare the widths of the screens :D Good one Midnight, you just got me there  I've changed the imgage as you can see. I've compared the widths of both screens and the picture of the E200 is better now.
Guest someone Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 By the way, more pictures of the MPx220 in black and silver style, you can choose whitch color you prefer (I like the silver one :D )MPx_220b_front_Small.jpgMPx220 zwart 7.jpgMPx220 zwart 6.jpgMPx220 zwart 5.jpgMPx_220_back_Small.jpgMPx220 zilver 4.jpgMPx220 zilver 3.jpgMPx220 zilver 2.jpgMPx220 zilver 1.jpg
Guest [email protected] Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 A better comparison would be to the MPx200, since they're both flippers. As far as I can see the 220 looks to be the speaker portion taller. Someone: Will You whip up a comparison shot for us?
Guest [email protected] Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 In-hand picture from www.mobilegadgetnews.commpx220s.jpg
Guest someone Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 A better comparison would be to the MPx200, since they're both flippers. As far as I can see the 220 looks to be the speaker portion taller. Someone: Will You whip up a comparison shot for us? As you can see I've compared the widths of both screens again. I wonder if this is a good way to compare the handsets, but I have no idea how to do it in a better way. In this photo both screens are of the same size, but the MPx220 itself is a bit larger than the MPx200. But as you can see in the ín-hand pic Malte posted above (nice one by the way), the size of the MPx220 doesn't look that huge... (Or the man who holds the MPx220 has very big hands :? )MPx200 vs MPx220.JPG
Guest mattscholey Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Maybe the 220 is using the new screen resolution? So, who here thinks we'll ever see this phone? Matt
Guest ratcom Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Maybe the 220 is using the new screen resolution? So, who here thinks we'll ever see this phone? Matt I really hope we do see this phone as since owning a MS Smartphone I never want to go back to a "normal" phone  and I do hate candy bar style phones..........
Guest idavid Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 but. if it was that size i dont think i would be able to pick it up!?
Guest someone Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 but. if it was that size i dont think i would be able to pick it up!? I don't think that will be so hard, if you look to the picture where someone holds the MPx220. O, this is maybe a bit off-topic, but the dimensions of the MPx100 are allmost exactly the same as those of the SPV and the SPV E200. Motorola MPx100: 114 x 50 x 22 mm and 130g; SPV (canary): 115 x 46 x 22 mm and 127g; SPV E200: 120 x 50 x 24 mm and 130g.
Guest midnight Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 e100 and e200 are exactly the same size at 120mm x 50mm x 24mm and so the mpx100 is smaller, doesnt seem a lot, but 6mm is quite a lot in the phone world (ask Paul and Monolithix when they get back from the MVP meet, theyve had first hand experience of it, and from what ive heard the mpx100 looks/feels small) :D
