Guest Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Hello, did anyone of you experience the same after an upgrade of the Qtek8080 (as I did using a special file for this handset) or the E200 (using the Orange firmware files): After the upgrade the volume of (incoming) calls is too much too low and virtually cannot be significantly increased by the volume key. Is there any (registry) tweak to fix that ? Regards G P.S. The volume of the speakerphone or when playing multimedia files however remains ok as before the upgrade.
Guest jimbou Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 can you post a link to the firmware upgrade file?
Guest Helix Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 landuaf, i have noticed this although i believe the volume is much better than before. The previous volume was responsible for the buzzing produced. I have not had any problems with the volume being too low, i think ya just being picky :D

Guest petvas Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 The sound quality is definitely much better now. You can change the volume of the incoming call by modifying the Profile's settings.
Guest Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Hi petvas, I don't know what your previous firmware version was. Mine was 1.7.10 and this was in a Qtek 8080 (not Orange E200). The sound quality there was as good as now after the upgrade but now a lot of bugs and errors (BT, SMS etc.) are fixed. However now - as I said here - the volume of calls is too low (I have real problems now when accepting a call outside or e.g. when shopping in a shopping center in a noisy surrounding etc.). Well, you can change the volume of several events, including the ringtone volume in the profiles setting. But you CANNOT change the call volume there !!! *** In general that's what my opinion is: GSM (incl. SMS) is "old technology", meaning: it is all well-developped and has been available for years. Thus I take it for *granted* that these features are working in all new phone makes and models. And I do *NOT* accept that these features do not work 100.0% in new phone models (which are btw not that cheap that they are designed to tolerate that...) In my opinion a SMARTphone differentiates itself from a (simple) phone by its *additional* features (like MMS client, mail client, Games, color display, Pocket PC features etc.) If these features come a bit buggy I am prepared to tolerate that more, especially when - as it was marketed before their introduction - these phones can easily be upgraded by the user himself. Now I have been a bit angry that (a) also plain phone features in the Qtek 8080 were not fully bug-free, (:D we had to wait too long for the first upgrade and © this (first ?) upgrade still added bugs (like the one described here) while admittedly fixing a lot others. Well, this is my opinion as an "experienced user", working in product development myself. I'm not viewing the whole issue from the perspective of a techie or "firmware junkie", but merely from the perspective of usability and end-customer benefit. Regards G
