Guest pike81 Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Hi, New to all this... have been reading through a lot of posts in here and other web pages but I just cant seem to unlock my Smart e100 phone.... It was apparently on orange... it's v1.09, i've tried SPVunlock and it seems to go through ok and give me the code but I dont get prompted to enter the code when i restart.... do i have to change the os? If so how? Any help would be MUCH appreciated :D Cheers!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Welcome to the site :D Normally after you have your SIM unlock code you then need to place a different networks SIM in your phone. But as you have the SMART update SIM unlocking is not possible with that update.
Guest pike81 Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 So there is nothing i can do? The guy i bought the phone off said he had bee using it unlocked without any problems for a few months... Will i have to get an orange sim or something now?
Guest rbriggs Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Hold up there... this phone was used on Telstra (australian network) I had the same invaild SIM problem when I first started using this phone, but there is a way to fix it, I learnt that from this forum.(This was my phone that I sold to pike81) Can you be any clearer?? As I can remember the phone would be running I-Mate 1.5 OS, or I might have changed it back to the default SMART update. Either way I know there is a way that it works. Someone Help?!?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 If you are using the SMART 1.7 update then you can not unlock the phone as the update relocks the SIM to the SMART network and prevents the unlock code from being entered.
Guest pike81 Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Ok, so what do I do then? Do I remove the update and downgrade the OS? Some instructions would be much appreciated as I am at a loss what to do... Thanks in advance!
Guest pike81 Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 Hi there, hate to be annoying but i really need some help. Can anyone give me some advice? Cheers Nicky
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 You need to downgrade to an earlier version of the SMART OS then you can install either the Qtek 1.5 or the Orange 1.6 update.
Guest pike81 Posted April 26, 2004 Report Posted April 26, 2004 Ok, I've tried to downgrade the operating system to the uk orange 1.3.5 or whatever it says in the other posts but it does nothing when i follow the instructions... I'm probably doing something really simple wrong, but the more posts i read the more confusing this becomes. If someone could post some straightforward instructions to downgrade the operating system from v1.09 to whatever and then sim/program unlock the phone I would be very appreciative! Thanks in advance!
Guest katan Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 @pike81 what is your ROM? SMART 1.7.0.13 Bootloader 1.09? you can't easily downgrade it, but there is a way. ...are you willing to take the risk?
Guest pike81 Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Well i guess it depends on what the risk is. If you could let me know any way would be fantastic, as long as it doesn't stuff up the phone. Cheers for the help
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 With any downgrading there is a risk and there is a chance you can kill your phone. You need to downgrade your phone to an older version of the smart before you can upgrade to another networks roms. Have a look at this post for more details (this was for another rom but the method is still the same.) http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...5&highlight=nbf
