Guest Vector Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 I could send/receive email a while ago on my E200 and until recently i haven't bothered with it. Now when i enter my settings and try to receive email it says "verify you have coverage and the settings are right" . :D The settings haven't changed, and i have put in the same settings as before. I have a GPRS connection open aswell so i have network coverage. Any ideas....?
Guest ferret Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 I get that, a few reboots and the email will eventually work. Was much more reliable pre update IMO. Ah well
Guest wagamama Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Have you done a firmware update? i know that locking the phone (by pressing the end call button now disconnects the gprs, and it's a bugger to get active again with regards to email/msn messenger)
Guest NickB&SPV Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Received E-mail for the first time in a fortnight on Wednesday night. Since then having to go through Orange website and "Read E-mail" to see what mail I have. Not Happy :!: :x
Guest Vector Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Mine is sorted now :D It was a problem with the mail server....d'oh!
Guest manocheese Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 I was able to pick up my Yahoo email via pop3 until the update, I used the auto setup from the Orange website to get it going. Now it doesn't seem to want to work, it just stays at "Connecting..." and is unable to disconnect when I cancel it. I am 100% sure I have all the settings right. I think I'll pop in to the Orange shop and ask. Phone: SPV E200
Guest ltgland Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 I found the manual wasnt very helpful and put my ISP's smtp server in. It didnt send (anti spam measure) make sure smtp is set to smtp.orange.com
Guest manocheese Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 smtp.orange.com doesn't work either, I'll try .net because that might be it. ---------------Update------------------ .net ain't it either.
Guest Vector Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Yep, the outgoing mail server is smtp.orange.net :D
Guest Vector Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 smtp.orange.com doesn't work either, I'll try .net because that might be it. ---------------Update------------------ .net ain't it either. Really? Mine seems to work fine...
Guest ltgland Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Ive checked my phone, and it is .net DOH.
Guest manocheese Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Does it require Authentication? I left that on from when I was using Yahoo.
Guest ferret Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Does it require Authentication? I left that on from when I was using Yahoo. Mine's switched off and it sends emails, usually. Not 100% sure if it should be on or off mind you.
Guest Vector Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 I have require authentication unticked :D
Guest manocheese Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Bah, still not working. Can anyone tell me where to shortcut to EmailWiz points to? In case it's just the link that's missing from my phone, that might work. I'm all annoyed now, I really don't have any other major complaints about the phone, I've been able to resolve/bypass all the other problems and other than those it's a seriously kick ass phone.
Guest Jay247 Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 I'm sure the Orange outgoing mail server does not require authentication if you're using Orange GPRS or CSD. A couple of weeks ago I had the same problem as you, and Orange admitted they were doing upgrades at their end. I'd give it a few days and try again. Posted from my SmartPhone!
