Guest flashflash Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Please note this is for PC not smartphone, however will this update cause problems for smartphone after Apr8th If you use MSN Messenger version 6.0 and 6.1, and have not recently upgraded to the new version (please see below to find out more), we need you to do so now. This mandatory upgrade is essential to help protect all our customers from a recently discovered security risk and includes the most robust security measures. After April 8th you will only be able to log onto MSN Messenger if you have gone through the upgrade, using the updated software. Excuse me if this has already been discussed
Guest ferret Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 I haven't heard anything, no email from MS or Message when I login. And a check of the MSN website reveals no update available. Is this just an internet rumour or scare story?
Guest Palindrome Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Do you have a direct link to the story or the the PC update?
Guest A.Hughes Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 This is the link to the MSN update, ive downloaded it but it doesnt say what version it is!! http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger...er/download.asp
Guest flashflash Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Its no scare story, its on msn's website. http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger/messengerupgrade/
Guest shadamehr Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 The latest update I believe you refer to is a minor incremental update. Assuming you HAD the latest version before the upgrade, this will update your MSN Messenger (on the PC) from version 6.1.0207 to the newer build 6.1.0211. So as you can see, a tiny upgrade indeed. And the blurb is slim, merely stating it fixes one or two minor bugs. So no real issue to us...
Guest flashflash Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 The point that got my attention was: After April 8th you will only be able to log onto MSN Messenger if you have gone through the upgrade, using the updated software.
