Guest wennock Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 I was playing about used a DVD ripper and copied say chapter 1 to MPG file which was say 12MB, Using windows Movie Maker converted this to PocketPC WMA which took the size down to about 1 MG Is there any better way to do this for just parts and/or the whole DVD ??
Guest mikey1234 Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 try this then encode with tmpeg or virtual dubdvd to phone.zip
Guest kurtfhouse Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 If you look at pocketTV.com they have a great guide to making MPEGS from DVD, which you can play with Pocket TV which is free for personal use. I think there are some other guides on this forum. Just use the search tool.
Guest nedge2k Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Yeah but encoding to divx is alot better. See here
Guest barkythedog Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 alternatively use an archos av320 to record yopur dvds and then slap in on ur pc and use one of the progs recomended fromw this top site
Guest mike-oh Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Still no one step converter? Please someone outthere make one! Pretty please
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 I've tried the PocketMVP and movies encoded to DivX but they are smaller than PocketTV they don't seem to play as well. Using the PocketTV guides with TMPEng then watching the movie in PocketTV I get 20-24Fps and Stereo sound (when used with headphones) Using the PocketMVP guides and playing the DivX file in Media Player on my PC it reports that the file is encoded in Mono and is record at 15FPS ;) I have tried adjusting the settings to match but then the file is a lot bigger and plays much slower. So its PocketTV for me :D On a different note, I don't think you will get an all-in-one ripper/convertor unless someone specifically writes one for us as nearly all the rippers are 'crippled' by law not to work with encoded DVD's The best I can do is to get it down to two programs, DVDCrypt and IFOEdit91 then burn to DVD or three DVDCrypt and DVDtoAVI with Tmpeng to convert to Smartphone.
Guest nedge2k Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 THIS is a good example of divx size and quality on the phone. Pluck ur twnagers :D Credit: Midnight
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 :D ;) I never saw that one when I was a kid. But it looks quite good. Not wanting to go over old ground again can you explain briefly what you used to convert and settings used please and which version of PocketMVP as I have seen a few around. Thanks for the laugh.
Guest biffsmash Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 I'd be interested to find out if PocketMVP runs on E200 properly yet without having to mess about to play new files after you have closed pocketMVP. If I remember right, it had the problem where it didnt free up the phones memory even if you closed it with a task manager. If this problem was solved the app would be without doubt in my eyes, the best player on smartphone and i'd pay for it in that state!! :D Divx files I have encoded have been nicer quality and better frame rate (don't know about the sound), but pocketMVP was a little finicky for me. Thanks.
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Have a rumage through the links in my sig for some help/examples...
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 Tried them and I do haver to say after a bit of tweaking I have got pretty good results and I have also tried PocketDivXEncoder and that also gives very good quality (V fast as well) Problem is all the clips etc play ok, but I have converted a movie (1h 26m) and this has come down to 104Mb but when I try to open this in PocketMVP I get "failed to load file, please check available memory" :D Is there a maximum limit for PocketMVP :?: or have I got something wrong :?: I have an E100 with 1.6 update and PocketMVP version .8.041303 Port Beta3f
Guest Vector Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 before you play any videos make sure to close all running programs with Task Manger and try not to install too much things to the phones memory, and delete any homescreens, backgrounds you don't use to free space :D
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 Phone has just had a hard reset, only apps installed are SmartExplorer, SP Task Manager and PocketMVP. When I check I have 6.71Mb free memory and 6.59Mb free IPSM space. Can anyone play files bigger than 100Mb in PocketMVP :?:
