How to turn off receiving Cell ID Info SMS?

I am currently roaming in Australia with a Mitac 8390 and I get bombarded with Cell ID Info SMSes which is annoying and draining my battery. Is there a way I can get stop the phone from receiving these SMSes via the registry? I have tried un-enable the Cell Broadcast to see if it will work but the phone says it can't save the settings. My other smartphone O2 Xphone works fine with no annoying Cell Info ID. Can someone please help? Thanks.
