Guest squall Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 www.digitimes.com has posted interesting news on the Sagem Smartphone: Mitac International lands smartphone OEM order from Sagem Kung-tien Huang, Taipei; Adam Hwang, DigiTimes.com [Thursday 8 April 2004] Taiwanese manufacturer Mitac International on April 7 released news that it has received an OEM order for the MyS-7 smartphone from France-based Sagem. Sagem will cooperate with Orange, a leading provider of wireless communication services worldwide, to launch the smartphone in the European market at the end of this quarter. The MyS-7, Mitac’s second smartphone model, is characterized by a bar-type appearance, built-in 300,000-pixel digital camera, SD/MMC slot, Windows 2003 operating system and a weight of only 120 grams. Mitac expects the cooperation with Sagem to help its marketing in Europe as well as China and other Asian countries. The company shipped 50,000 smartphones last year and predicts shipments of 700,000-800,000 for this year. We have known for some time that the Sagem Smartphone was manufactured by MiTAC. However this does confirm Orange will retail the Sagem Smartphone in some countries.
Guest Pondrew Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Well, still think I'll go for the MPX100 over the MyS-7 although any competition in the Smartphone market is to be welcomed. Will I stick with Orange next time I change my phone? Not sure, time will tell! :D
Guest kingdom master Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 that mean were goner c more mitacs in uk soon?
Guest Pulse Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Perhaps this means the MPx100 will be on another network. Bye bye sagem and orange!
Guest midnight Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Pulse, why would MPx100 be on another network? Orange so far are the ONLY carrier in the UK interested in the MS Smartphone (i think that will change very soon), but Orange had both the Motorola MPx200 and the Orange E200 on sale at the same time, so why not new phones? :D
Guest agent.m Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Think he may have meant cause they are simular looking phones :D But what do i know
Guest midnight Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 yes, but completely different specs (even aimed at slightly different markets, and different prices (sagem=cheap and cheerfull, mpx100=high spec, higher price)
Guest Pulse Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Hence the 'perhaps' mid :D The Sagem specs has never interested me anyway.
Guest spockie Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Where can one find specs for the Sagem phone? seems like they dont have BT?
Guest Pulse Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 It seemed that way when I read the spec sheet aswell.
Guest FLo14 Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Hence the 'perhaps' mid :D The Sagem specs has never interested me anyway. Hi. I'm new on this forum. I've searched many infos on the web as I'm French, but SAGEM doesn't communicate very well with there customers.... So! My question was: why SAGEM phones don't interest you? Currently I've got a SPV E100, but my former phones were SAGEM myX-6 and myX-5 ; I think it was a great choice, especially for the price (I've bought my X-6 with SFR operator for 149€ - three months after it was at 49€....)
Guest midnight Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 agreed, however, if there really is no bluetoothg, that could put a real dampener on sales, especially in the uk where the new uk driving laws do not allow mobile phones while driving unless they are handsfree, and the preferred method of handsfree is bluetooth.
Guest FLo14 Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Sure. I think BT is a great lack of this phone. However, I think the phone will be cheap, as SAGEM always do it. And for the cars, your argument is not receivable in France, as we cannot phone in car, either w/ handsfree kit :D But sure BT is a great technology to connect mobiles or other devices each others.
