MPX200 MMS Client Software

Does anyone know where I can get MMS client software for the MPX200? I bought this phone on e-bay (it was originally locked to Orange) and it came with its assessories but was missing the CD. I didn't think this was a problem (as most of the software is on its ROM and the other bits and bobs are easily purchased) until I realised the MMS client software was not installed. I have trawled through pages on Google but I see jmms is not available as a standalone product. Is there any other MMS software out there to buy? Has anyone had success with other MMS software?

Please help as I'm going blind searching!

Welcome to the site :D

Your best bet is contact motorola and ask for the CD

as there is more on the cd than just the jmms app.

Unfortunately it would not be possible to send you a copy of the cd as it is copyrighted and we do not promote piracy on this site.

Also I do not know of any other mms software that will work on the mpx.

As a note when you do get the jmms app remember this is one of the only apps to install on the phone and not storage card, otherwise it will screw up your inbox.

Hi awarner,

Thanks for the welcome and for the info.

I have contacted Motorola but I'm not too hopeful for support considering I bought a phone which is essentially tied to Orange and unlocked it to use with Vodafone. I suspect their response will be to go back to Orange which of course would now be impossible.

However, as I am so impatient, I have now flashed the phone and jmms is installed as standard. So, I am kind of sorted now after reconfiguring for Vodafone again (thank you to ratcom for superb instructions in an earlier post). However, when you say the CD contains so much more, dare I ask what other essential kit I am missing? I have Task Manager, File Manager etc. What else could there be that would be essential?

Thanks again.

jmms installed as standard? what flashing have you been upto?

With Orange the app in an the cd and not rom.

As for other software on the cd you have Outlook and Caller ID

plus some demo games so nothing essential (unless you do not have Outlook)

All those things are included in the generic 2002 motorola flash that has been floating around. I flashed a spare MPX with it and shy a few plugins it works well even DMTFworks (as opposed to broken for ATTWS ROM). I believe this is what the person is referring to above.

One other note: I than ran Sprite Backup restore on this phone and basically cloned my other MPX. Of course the ROM differences would still be their such as ATT specific plugins missing. The software programs work perfectly.

Thanks for that. I seem to have most of the software so I don't feel so bad now. :D I did begin to wonder after beginning flashing the ROM whether I would have a phone I could use at the end of it but it all turned out OK. I've had a few bad experiences with flashing firmware...my Philips DVD recorder for example was just a pretty silver box after messing around with it! :? Still you have to try these things to learn.
