Guest ianesq Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 greetings! the phone would just stay at smart amazing phone screen. though i can still get it to canary mode. i was going to make a hard reset but then the screen displayed downloading bootloader & wince. i am very sure that the mmc i used was empty because i had just formated it using my digital camera. so, after 'download' i removed the batt and try to make a hard reset again. this time, the phone won't turn on and go to canary mode. but, it would turn on and hang at the smart amazing phone screen. so, i connected the phone and ran the 1.7 update. unfortunately, when the it started erasing, it hanged. it stayed at 0% for almost an hour. assuming the app hanged, i remove the batt and cable. i could no longer power up the phone. based on the threads i've read, there is no way to repair this but i'm still hoping for a solution. i'm not familiar with hardware but i was thinking, assuming the bootloader is not stored in the same memory as the wince, could it be possible to get a memory from a good phone and us it temporarily on the dead phone just to get it to canary mode? well, this is just an idea. br all ianesq

Guest ianesq Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 actually, i believe it was already being downgraded for unlocking. unfortunately, i guess, the person doing that was not familiar with the process. i received the phone still able to go to canary screen and would just hang at 'smart, simply amazing' screen. i tried doing a hard reset (with an mmc inside) but strangely it displayed something like its downloading bootloader and wince. i know my mmc is empty because i formated it before using it. now, i can't go to canary screen but can still power up the phone. i tried upgrading it to 1.7 but when it was suppose to be erasing, it stayed there for almost an hour till i decided to remove the battery. after that, no more power. not even a blink. br
Guest kalinte Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 hmmm not realy sure of this but something like that happened to me once. naghahang when you upgrade. try restarting your pc. (dont remove the phone) and do te upgrade agian.

I remember a friend of mine who had a same problem with you, we flashed the 1.7 of SMART then after that it hangs, when we are going to power on the unit, there's no response, but when we perform the "CANARY MODE" process it went there thus phone is not dead, what we did is we run again the 1.7 update and successfully restored the UNIT :D If your case we're different form the case of my friend where you can't go to CANARY MODE, its your MOTHERBOARD hardware problem thus i advice you to go to Brightpoint for repair, hope your phone still under warranty :wink:
