sounds in settings won't open

very strange problem w/ my i600. i get an Error when i select sounds in settings. it reads: "The settings could not be opened." Any ideas? for obvious reasons i do not want to reset.

so i lost even more functionality; namely, lost ability to open settings, calendar, or tmail. i did a reset and the phone was ok for a while, but now it won't let me into the sounds menu (again).

also, phone is not letting me sync as it is "unknown hardware."

is it possible that my phone's o.s. is permanently corrupt? do i need to swap the phone out?

I sometimes get that "unknown hardware" error. It's annoying and there doesn't seem to be any way to fix it except to reboot the computer. Usually it then recognizes the phone. Also, make sure the flip on the phone is up while it's in the cradle. I've found the results can be unpredictable if the flip is closed. Sometimes the phone is not recognized, or sometimes it is but then disconnects suddenly.

As far as your other problem, I have no idea. I've only had this phone for a couple weeks. :?

update: did a hard reset. most programs are stored on card and have gotten pretty good at setting up my i600. everything has seemed ok for a while. i would select "done" in the sounds menu and have not lost its functionality.

now, no internet (get an error: "Unable to connect. Verify you have network coverage and try again." all settings seem good), can't write, reply or send text messages, can't change profile (here's the weird part, the Profiles menu lists "Maeting" as a setting, i don't remember that).

i'm stumped. my problem now is that i need my phone set on "silent" or else it does me no good in Court. this is one registry setting i don't want to botch. looks like i will be doing another hard reset.
