How to improve battery life on mpx200?

Hi,

I have just purchased a 2nd hand mpx200 from CeX, only to find that the battery seems to use up all its power rather quickly. A couple of times the battery has got to 50% power, then within a matter of hours the phone has just turned itself off due to low battery. Presumeably this is due to the battery memory? What is the best way to improve the battery life on this 2nd hand mpx200?
