Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 My situation: I've installed a homescreen currently available. Because I'm not a professional with Homescreens, I created lots of images and adjusted their names, and replaced the existing images e.g. the original is called "startupscreen.jpg" so I created my own image, named it the same name, and replaced the original. This is what I've done for many of the screens. My problem is that once I press start (from the home screen - idle screen), the text is in black, highlighted text is white, that's fine. On "normal" homescreens, the selection gets highlighted, but the homescreen that I had is transparent. I don't know how to workaround this problem I've even experimented thoroughly with the .xml file, please help so that I can have this sorted. Thanks!
Guest drblow Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 If you mean that you DO want the background to be selected, then change the selected format state background colour to whatever colour you like. IT'll say bgcolor="transparent" at the minute.
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted April 11, 2004 Report Posted April 11, 2004 Thanks for helping drblow, but......... There are only 2 "transparent" words in the .xml file; one is in the default font-face bit, and the other is in the missed-calls bit, and I've tried changing both of them but neither do what I want. The actual .cab file needs the phone to be application unlocked, so perhaps when it installs it sets the background colour of the main menu to transparent? Just to clear up, it's the background colour once I press Start (where you can see Inbox, Games, Settings etc.), and I want the background colour of a selected item on, whereas at the moment it is transparent, and only the word selected changes colour. Aha, idea *goes to try something out. Returns.* I thought I'd try the same homescreen, different colour scheme (one that highlights the items I want highlighting), adn then I shut down the Start thing using Task Manager, then I went back to the home and pressed Start and same thing, it won't highlight. Another idea just rolled in - to try the Orange Homescreen; same effect. My conclusion is that the .cab file changes something somewhere which is why it's transparent. Any ideas? Thankyou very much for your help :D
Guest kurtfhouse Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I think I know the problem mate. You have installed a full theme (like the futurama theme) that alters the registry so that the programs menu background now uses a different GIF or BMP to the default one. When this happens the highlighted text changes colour but the background is always transparent. As far as I know this cannot be changed. You could use a registry editor and change the following key back to default, but then you would go back to the boring default programs screen and it wouldn't match the rest of the theme HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftShellRai:MSStart Sorry but I have changed this key and can't remember what the default was maybe someone else could post that so you can change it back. You could try surrealstart I think that still has the highlighted area in question and it can be customised to show the background from the theme your using so you can have the best of both worlds :D Sorry if this isn't clear, but its getting late! Cheers mate
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Well, that certainly helped. :D My problem isn't the changing of the background, the selected word is the problem, in that when I select a word, it doesn't get highlighted. Because of your registry directions, I now know that the problem is that the phone itself does not highlight, because it knows that there is a background and shouldn't spoil it! And, also because of your directions, I've now found a figured the fix fro the problem when installing midnight's home restore. The home restore leaves the background plain white whereas it should have a gradient deoending on the homescreen being used. I've now found a fix for this, sooooo... overall, your help certainly helped me a lot...... thankyou very much! ;) (Anyone able to give me directions to where I can find instructions on creating a .cab file to install a homescreen?) Thankyou!
