Guest rcperez Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 As you well know your Pocket Internet Explorer (PIE) is very crippled especially in the download part, when you try to download a ZIP file it will state that the site is invalid. I made a little plugin that will allow you to download from any website using your PIE. The only drawback to this is that it will save in your IPSM. If you don't have any associated file handler for a typical file type that is downloaded it will post an error after the download, (that's right after the download so you already have the file) but if for instance you downloaded a MP3 it will be automatically loaded in WMPlayer or whatever default player you have. Download ZIP, MP3, EXE, DOC, MPG, MPEG, PDF, AVI, PDB, 3GP and RAR with your Pocket Internet Explorer.Download Plugin for PIE Updated.zipPIEPlugin.cab
Guest nedge2k Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 nice plugin but i've made a patch to dl exe's, madu made one for zip's, the new smartexplorer has an option to manage all file types (apart from exe's) and allow them to be dl'd usin pocket ie and pocket tv also patches ie for mpeg's. if u could figure out a way to add a save as function for things like jpeg's u'd be a hero tho :D Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Genius rcperez...genius! The only working plugin for me. Thanks a lot dude. Mabuhay ka panyero! :D Posted from my 3210!

Guest nedge2k Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Genius rcperez...genius! The only working plugin for me. Which plugins have you used? His tweak does exactly the same as the others: creates a reg value called editflags and gives it a value of 65536. Doesnt do anything different. See HERE for maual tutorial Good work tho, nice to see people are still lookin into ways to make pie better
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 @nedge I used rcp's cab installer. I tried the manual instructions to the dot the other day but wasn't able to make it work. After following the instructions, I reboot my phone, connect to symantec website for the virus definition (in .exe extension), still I got error message "The file cannot be viewed on this device". Using rcp's cab, downloading .exe is now a breeze. To each his own. :D Posted from my 3210!
Guest Lopio Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Well ive tried it and for me this one is the best, no more tweaking with the registry, its all automatic just run the cab and everything is done. Im just an ordinary Smartphone User not an expert. And with this plugin i can download from .exe to zip to mpg and many more. Once again many thanks to RCPerez for this little plugin. Guest nato Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Can someone make this into a .CAB so we can download using our phones.?
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 @Lopio same here. can't download anything from this site using my phone. i guess its a server issue. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest metter Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 can anyone modify this to download to storage card/downloads? this would be very cool.
Guest nedge2k Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 The plugin just allows the download of certain file types...you cant change the way ie downloads files only what type of files it can download
Guest dani_carrabba Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 But i can't download zip file, its that because i don't have smartexplorer in my phone?? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest nedge2k Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 You will still be able to download it...just not open it. Certain web servers, like Modaco, arent configured for pocket ie to download from them. Why dont u have smart explorer!? Its the best file browser there is and is an essential for the phone
