Guest mattweb Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 hey. my first post..whahoo :D anyway.. i just reinstalled the 1.6 update on my spv e100 that ive had for about 2/3 months and it came up the message "Network Denied, Searching". ive had a look on the forum and found quite a few topics about people having the same problem, and ive tried some of the ideas that hav been suggested but still network denied. i bought it off ebay in january(i think) but the thing i dont get is that if its been stolen like some other posts say, why has it just been reported now 2 months after ive had it, and had no problems with it.... any help would be appreciated cheers, matt
Guest Vector Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 have you checked if the radio is off? tap power button>radio(or airplane mode) on , if it says "on" then" select it :D
Guest mattweb Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 hey yep ive checked that.. turned radio on and off a few times just for gud measures.. and tureed phone on and off a few times, also tried another sim card in it, and tried bootin it withouit a sim card in, the booting again with a sim card in..but nothing...... cheers for replyin quick:) matt
Guest Vector Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 tried the sims in other phones? and are they orange sims? :D
Guest mattweb Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 yep tried it in another phone but just says no signal yup both on orange pay as you go.... think itll b on the phone to orange in the mornin... at about £1 an minute or whatever it is.. :x
Guest squall Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 If it was lost/stolen and locked it normally says network barred. The same problem has been solved by reinstalling the 1.6 update - id recommend you try that.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 It could have an outstanding payment on the handset. Best bet is to phone Orange and ask them if the phone has been blocked.
Guest mattweb Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 ok then i guess thats good news.. ive tried reinstalling update twice but still denied... hmm im guessin thats bad news though... im hoping the phones not screwed, i quit my job when at the start of the year aswell so i dont have any money now  hmm... cheers
Guest ajb3000 Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 yep tried it in another phone but just says no signal If there is no signal on the home network (i.e. orange), then the phone will try to connect to another network and be denied access as you don;t subscribe to it, which is then being displayed on the screen. Try turning it on in an area with coverage and it should work fine, if not try manually selecting the orange network.
Guest mattweb Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 ive tried getting signal all over the house.. it worked once before and i managed to call balance but thats it, could it maybe be that a transmittors down or sumthin? i had a look at manualy selecting network, but theres three orange: orange (20420) orange (23830) orange (22803) all three are selected in the preferred networks menu matt
Guest Vector Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 maybe there is a transmittor down somewhere? giving orange a ring is the best bet as awarner said...
Guest mattweb Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 yea, alrite cheers for the help people! ill give orange a call in the morning and see what they say. matt
Guest mattweb Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 hey..just a quick update to what i was saying before. i just checked my brothers phone and hes got no signal either, then i just got 2 bars but never managed to make a call, and then lost signal again, and now its stuck on "Searching...". so im guessing that theres sumthin dodgy goin on at orange..you dont know if theres any way to check if something gone wrong? cheers, matt
Guest squall Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 orange always seem to be saying there is a tower down somewhere, and there are carrying out extensive updates - so it wouldn't surprise me...
Guest yoos Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 I've received that message when I was in remote areas of Florida. I searched for networks and did find an AT&T network (I'm on T-Mobile) so I GUESS it means there is a tower there, but you don't have access to it. My understanding is that carriers pay other carriers to use their towers, but they may not use all of their towers. I called T-Mobile and they said they didn't offer service in the area where I received the message. My understanding is that they sometimes switch too (get rid of agreements to use a certain tower and/or add an agreement for another tower)
