Guest darrenjg Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Hi Before I splash out my cash, I just thought I'd best check on here first... If I buy a 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack adaptor, and then one of those "plug your CD player into your Car Cassete player" tape thingies... is there any reason why I won't then be able to use my phone as an in-car mp3 player? Ta Darren
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 It should be possible but remember the mpx has a different socket pinouts to a standard headset.
Guest furby Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Does that mean with the right part/thingy i can use other headphones (standard ones are pants)
Guest mcwarre Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Yes to snowball and darren! Follow awarners advice tho' PS Darren, does your stereo have a auxiliary phono input on the back? If so thats a better option...
Guest spludgey Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 I think it's for a car so it's more likely than not that it doesn't have one.
Guest mcwarre Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 I think it's for a car so it's more likely than not that it doesn't have one. Obviously it's for a car as it says "plug your CD player into your Car Cassete player" :D ;) A lot of modern systems now have auxiliary inputs so it is worth a look as the sound quality is far better than via a cassette.....
Guest darrenjg Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Hi Thanks for replying. awarner, I'm not sure what you mean by 'different socket pinouts'? Do you mean that a simple 3.5 to 2.5 adaptor won't do the job? mcwarre, no aux input in my car sadly.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 The actual terminals on the phone ie speakers and mic etc are configured differently to a standard 4 way connector, so you will find you may have to alter the wiring slightly before you get stereo.
Guest scottt Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 I use mine in the car with the 3.5mm to 2.5mm jack adaptor, and one of those "plug your CD player into your Car Cassete player and have no problems . but with one of these http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/woodstock_dab53.asp You can plug your sd card straight into your car stereo and even record radio programs !
Guest Belgarath Krall Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 I've tried using the aux sockets in the back of stereo, there is much less hissiness and it generally sounds a lot better. Plus you don't have to have cables coming out of the cassette entry...which looks much more professional with the cables all tied around the back :D

Ye I only get sound out of one side in my headphones :D What would i need to do to get stereo or sound in both spreakers
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Depending on if you are using a three or four pin plug you need to swap the wires around.
Guest furby Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 You mean I need to cut the wires in the headphones and solder them back the other way around? (comedy paint diagram aprreciated :Dphone.jpg
