Guest jo12 Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 how do you format the sd card, i've got a 128 mb sd card that i was using in the spv e200 until the phone went nuts and had to get another one sent out by orange. I put in the update, and all hell broke loose, the memory card said that it was full, which is impossible, and i cant install anything on it at all. I can put it into the phones memory but not the card ??????
Guest Vector Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Get a program called <> Task manager <> To download just click the words "task manager" :D
Guest squall Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 You can format the sd card using the taskmanager app. See http://www.monolithix.org
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Not sure if mono has updated to the latest version, if not you can try the authors site www.binarys.com Also get Smart Explorer another excellent app made by Binarys.
Guest jo12 Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 i gave that a try, but it wont let me format the card. Any other sugestions
Guest Vector Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 if you have a card reader you could format it in windows....
Guest jo12 Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 when i try and do the formatt, it says "error while formatting the card"
Guest squall Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 you sure the read/write lock (slider on card) is set to allow writing?
Guest jo12 Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 it is all where it should be, looks like it is going to be a card reader at the weekend then??!!!
Guest Vector Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 looks like it :D Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling taks manager? I just had a thought, is task manager installed to the card? if it is, uninstall and install it to the phone, then try formatting the card ;)
Guest jo12 Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 i have other cards and they all manage to get formatted ok using the task manager, so i can only assume that the card is corrupt or damaged some way. When i updated the phone with the new software, i forgot to take the card out
Guest Vector Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 I wouldn't think that leaving the card in while updating would cause the problem :? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest jo12 Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 ok, thats it, ive had enough!!!!!!! I went thru to my local store and got a card reader and formatted the card, then put it in the spv and still it wont work, i cant put anything on the card, or move items from the internal memory to the card, even drag and drop wont work. WANT TO BUY A SPV WITH CARD READER !!!!!
Guest jo12 Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 P.N.Y But i have been using the card to store apps on and games with great affect, so it does not make sense to all of a sudden start to not work, it was only sense doing the update that it all started to go wrong
Guest jo12 Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 PNY But i've been using the card, and have had no problems till i installed the update
Guest jo12 Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 What i also meant to say is that i can format the card in the windows on the computer, and i can put apps on the card. I can also see them when i go to the card on the phone, but i cant install them on the card!! if you see what i mean.
Guest pd.ryder Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 I've had no end of SD card issues. The "A1" 128Mb card which I used quite happily with my E100 suddenly developed a fault when used in my new E200. Had that card replaced and still can't use it. I managed to format it but it would only show 119Mb available. Where had 9meg gone? Anyway, I couldn't write to or read from the card so I palmed it off to my mate who uses an E200 and guess what - works fine! We both have pre-updated OS. His won't format the Orange supplied card and mine will, now his won't write to the O card. All very confusing if you ask me. I'm off to get a SanDisk 256Mb asap but I'm not sure about e-bay because of the compatability / will it read it / just how much space will I lose on that one. Orange tech support don't want to know stating "they don't support SD cards", which I think is rediculous. Why will one phone read a card when another won't? Anyone any ideas?
Guest jo12 Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 what you have said is the very same symptoms that i've got, it is very annoying when one minute it will work and the next it is caput!!!
