Guest quacka Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 HI, I Read that the lesss stuff i have on the phone memory the faster the phone would be. What are some of the things i can delete from the phone without affecting the functionality of the phone?
Guest squall Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 not really worth deleting any of the pre installed stuff of the phone - you couldnt delete enough to make a difference.
Guest Palindrome Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 You can delete the contents of the AppMgr folder in IPSM(Storage if you've an E200)/Windows. Apart from that, just make sure you're installing all your apps on your storage card. You can also keep your inbox folders clear of any messages that you don't want to keep.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 A more extreme method would be to do a hard reset, this will take the phone to it's minimum installation ie factory settings. After this you would have to re-install your games and contacts etc, but remember most if not all of your games and apps should be installed to your storage card and not the phone. This will help you to save space on your phone. Remember you cannot delete anything that is in the main Windows folder as this gets rewritten every time you start your phone up.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Also do not delete the contents of the AppMgr folder as this contains the information needed to uninstall the applications you have installed on your phone. One thing that fills the phones memory are old SMS especially sent SMS, these are stored in the IPSMMAPI folder. Once the contents of the MAPI folder is deleted your sent SMS cannot be recovered. The other thing is large ringtones, or surplus homescreens you may have put on your phone, these are well known to fill the phone.
Guest quacka Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 OK thanks. Just that 50% of my phone memory is in used thought i can make it better some how. Stuff in windows directory gets restored? Does it mean the phone has some kind of backdrive we cant access where it restores all the important files when the phone starts? One other question. I have 256mb SD card. If say i install about 30 games would it slow things down as to when i have 1 game?
Guest squall Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 50% free memory is more than enough to ensure best performance of the phone. Doesnt matter how many games/ apps etc you have on the sd card. The rom image does contain all the information to reset the device to the factory state.
