Guest squall Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 MoDaCo member mavisdavis got in touch to tell us about this: This encoder comes complete with smartphone and ppc templates, which will make the encoding process quicker and easier, especially for those who have not encoded video before. PocketDivXEncoder allows you to encode any video clip with optimized parameters for handled devices (landscape mode, 240x320, low CPU usage, increased brightness, ...).The 2 video output standards (.ogm ou .avi) are playable on the famous DivX player under PocketPC : PocketMVP. You can download it here : http://home.adelphia.net/~mdukette/downloads.html. They are created thanks to the fast encoder "mencoder". - The .ogm standard contains a video stream in DivX5 and an audio stream in Ogg. - The .avi standard contains a video stream in DivX5 and an audio stream in MP3. This standard allows some great improvements in processing speed. This encoder is donationware Click HERE to see picture Download HERE
Guest Vector Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 looks good :D i'll try this tomorrow when i am less tried ;)
Guest squall Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 i loaded it up and it did look most promising. Anyway isnt it past your bed time? *yawn*
Guest Vector Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Anyway isnt it past your bed time? *yawn* no  :D
Guest zeta101 Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 tried this, its seems quite user-friendly and quick to use but having probs using it on pocketMVP on an e100. Trying to comvert a dvd compliant mpeg (not from a dvd, but from a tv show that i had converted to dvd mpeg a while back). If i do a direct audio stream copy then i get an error in pocketMVP saying the audio is incompatible. If i do the avi/mp3 thing then it plays a split second of sound and then pocket mvp seems to crash, with no error given. Any ideas?
Guest Panja Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Going to give this a try real soon!! Cheers
Guest MECX Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 same problem as zeta here---i can get the audio to play tho if i reduce the FPS to 8 (on DIVX with MP3) but the screen just goes green. Does pocketMVP support DIVX5?
Guest zeta101 Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 yes is supports divx 5.0.2, i think it does 5.0.3 too...i can now get the sound to play with avi/mp3 but the screen is just blank, and it kind messes up my phone and i have to reset. Looks like the problem is with the video...
Guest MECX Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 exactly the same zeta----they will play on my desktop PC tho---hmmm
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 yes is supports divx 5.0.2, i think it does 5.0.3 too... Works with 5.0.4 too.
Guest serialkillazzs Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 Tried converting video with this and using the newest version of MVP for my e200 but it does not play video properly at all. either crashes when you try to play a video or it plays with sound and green blocks all over video. probably run on spv original, Ahh well back to the old method.
Guest MECX Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 ive tried it on the E200 and the MPX with exactly the same results on each :?
Guest badboy4life Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 It seems to work fine on my E200, try replacing the divx.dll with the one attached in this topic http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=106529 - Think it updates the codec to one of the latest versions.
Guest Pulse Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 Squall, does it have a PPC template aswell? I get my xda next week.
Guest zeta101 Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 everything seems to be working now thanks to badboy4life, i just replaced divx.dll on my e100 (it works for e100 not just e200, and id guess works for spv classic and mpx200 too). Now the avi/mp3 option works, sound was a bit jittery but i think thats cos i had a very high framerate etc. and yes pulse it has ppc templates
Guest squall Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 Squall, does it have a PPC template aswell? I get my xda next week. sure does :D still not got round to trying it...
Guest MECX Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 been playing on the MPX ad still cant get it to work just green blocky video---after changing the .dll of course :?
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 Hey this really rocks. I tried it on my machine at work. This is a clean Windows XP, so clean I cant play XVid or DivX movies. The software does not need to be installed just click and it runs and without having to download or install any codecs we have a nice compact DivX file which plays perfectly :D and it is so fast. 30Min DivX 230Mb compressed to 22Mb (37Mb using PocketTV) in 5mins 90Min XVid 800Mb compressed to 64Mb (122Mb PocketTV) in 40mins Wow
Guest Wildelnab Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 (edited) Hi ! I'm the author of PocketDivXEncoder... Sorry for having not seen that before : the video files created with this encoder weren't working well on a Smartphone before, because the Smartphone version of PocketMVP didn't play them !! As I don't have any Smartphone (I hav a PocketPC), I didn't know that... But now, the new player "betaplayer" can render them really well ! Some Smartphone users helped me in order to change the Smartphone presets to more optimal ones... So now, I've made a new version of PocketDivXEncoder (downloadable on my site : http://divx.ppccool.com) and you can use it in order to encode your video files in order to render them on your Smartphone with betaplayer ! I hope you will enjoy it ! BuibuiLiveCD - Test your LiveCD from Windows without burning it Edited September 25, 2007 by Wildelnab
Guest Dr_StrangeTrick Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 Well if you need any more testing doing then this is the place to come. Well done Wildelnab my donation is on the way :D
Guest Wildelnab Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 (edited) Thanks a lot ! :D OK, so if there are some issues with Smartphones, I will try to watch this topic... But if I don't answer quickly, you can also send me a mail if you want ! My mail address is in the help section of my soft... Sorry for having made a program that claimed to work on Smartphones, but that didn't ! By the way, I'm not a native speaker, so feel free to correct my English mistakes (in the soft of course  ) ! Guest markgamber Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 This is bordering on awesome. No muss, no fuss and the video plays fine using the betaplayer software on a Mitac Mio 8390 (thanks to the GDI setting). Many thanks!
Guest MikeInDallas Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Is this the same Mark Gamber that has written so much freeware over the years? If so, I'm a developer too and have been trying to find your site/email address/something? If I have the right guy, please contact me so I can beg you for some help please. Thanks! Guest markgamber Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 Mike, if you don't get my email, PM here.
Guest MikeInDallas Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 I received your email and replied yesterday. Hopefully you got it. I can't access my inbox here or send PM to anyone...says "Not Authorised", though I validated my account. I sent a help request to modaco's support but haven't heard back... But you got the email right. Thanks!
