Guest drblow Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Hmm ... I have an e200 & PC running windows XP home, but the app doesn't recognise my phone. Says failed to recognise, make sure activesync is connected - which it is. Help!?? :?
Guest evilminky Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 yea i get the same with windows 2000 and spv original
Guest blewer Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Dr Blow Open command prompt and type the following cd c:Program FilesDr. Neil's SMS Utils Once the directory is open, type Regsvr32 SmartSMS.dll Now try to open the app again All should work fine
Guest Simon Desser Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Very nice app 8) nice looking and easy to use :D I had to run the command prompt (as Blewer suggested) and it works a treat. I do however get an error message, even though the program seems to be working perfectly despite this message :?Dr Neil's error.gif
Guest ChrisJM Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 This looks great! will download this as soon as i get home! Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest squall Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 can someone point me in the direction of a working .net framework?!
Guest ormstont Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 I applied blewers fix as described and the program opened afterwards but it still doesn't seem to connect to my phone. I'm not getting any of my messages displaying on the computer and I can't send either.
Guest drblow Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Cheers Blewer!! Ran that cmd and it works good now! :D It's well handy for sending messages, but there doesn't seem to be much else to it. It would be nice if it could save sms messages to a folder somewhere on the PC.
Guest Simon Desser Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 I agree, it would be nice to be able to save messages. But you CAN copy and paste the text from a message when it's open, so for important or funny messages, you could save them as .txt files on your PC. (Better than nothing :D )
Guest Simon Desser Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 can someone point me in the direction of a working .net framework?! http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en :D
Guest squall Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 something isnt right, ive installed .net service pack one and 2 and this app still wont install (asking for a higher version) Im downloading the .net framework + sdk (huge) but it should sort it. :D cheers for the link.
Guest biffsmash Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 Is there a way to retrieve or save peoples names and numbers in order to send an SMS without having to remember the peoples mobile numbers? Cheers
Guest mwille Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 Is there a way to retrieve or save peoples names and numbers in order to send an SMS without having to remember the peoples mobile numbers? Cheers The prog imports all your contacts (name and numbers) from outlook everytime you run it. So there is no need to manually enter any numbers.. Just click "send" and then the little msn messenger like icon marked "to" and your contactslist will pop up..
Guest mwille Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 By the way.. Any of you gotten the prog to show the messages in the phone's inbox like in the screenshot in the first post ? Mine won't do that.. :D
Guest biffsmash Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 Ahhh outlook, I'll have to get that installed again then lol. Thanks for advice :D
Guest squall Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 lol little embarrassed to admit this - reason i had trouble with .net is because i installed .net documentation for sp1 and 2 :D
Guest Simon Desser Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 By the way.. Any of you gotten the prog to show the messages in the phone's inbox like in the screenshot in the first post ? Mine won't do that.. ;) Yeah, it works for me :? I wonder if it's got anything to do with selecting Smartphone 2002, or Smartphone 2003 in the settings :?: EDIT:- Yep, I think that's the problem, I just selected the "wrong" option, and my messages weren't there anymore :D
Guest mwille Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 I had the rights setting all along.. Just for the heck of it I tried changing them into 2003 (wrong) and back to 2002 (right) but my messages are still missing.. Dr. Neil, if you are watching, any idea's ?
Guest yoos Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 This program is awesome!! Thanks Dr. Neil!!! One recommendation is to have the ability to reply to an sms. I am running this on Windows 2000 professional and after I did the following it seems to work great. Open command prompt and type the following cd c:Program FilesDr. Neil's SMS Utils Once the directory is open, type Regsvr32 SmartSMS.dll
Guest El-President Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 For the most part, works great! Thank's Dr. Neil - but it seems to be cutting off the bottom panel of the screen (just below the inbox or compose box) appears to be missing (I presume it has letters used etc.) Anyone else get this problem? El-President
Guest NRoodyn Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 All this great feedback is highly appreciated. SMSUtils is certainly work in progress and when I get the time I'll be resolving issues and adding suggested features (of which there are a lot!) Thanks Dr. Neil
Guest TonyL Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 Interesting one: XP Pro and latest .NET framework installed. Ran Utils installer, registered the file through DOS, worked fine could see contacts and send text. That was all.. no way of moving around or deleting text. Upgraded E200 to latest ROM from Orange, now I get Error Initialising. Have re booted etc. Any suggestions?
Guest Skilty Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 Open command prompt and type the following cd c:Program FilesDr. Neil's SMS Utils Once the directory is open, type Regsvr32 SmartSMS.dll What command prompt?? how do you do this?? sorry if this is very easy and i'm being thick it's just that i had the previous versions of send sms and they worked fine. Mind you i have done the upgrade for the E200, could this have something to do with it??
Guest mwille Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 What command prompt??Just a normal DOS box :D Mind you i have done the upgrade for the E200, could this have something to do with it?? Nope, I had to perform the little dll register trick on my (old) SPV too. Every time I installed SendSMS or SMS Utils.
