Guest Darrone3dr Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Hi guys, This is my first post on the site, so Hello to everyone!!! :D I have just downloaded the Gameboy Emulator to my SPV-E200 but t's not working! I saved the .exe in the StorageApplication DataMy Documents folder and run it, it installed but I don't know where to find it to actually open it and start playing it! Can anyone help? Cheers Darrone
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Welcome to the site :D You need to place the gnuboy.exe onto your storage card in a folder and place your roms in the same folder. Now create a shortcut for the .exe and place it in StorageWindowsStart MenuGames Now in your Games list the gnubpy will be there ready for you to run.
Guest Darrone3dr Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Thanks for replying so quickly!! :D Two more questions.... 1. What are roms? 2. How do I create shortcuts? (I have Smart Explorer installed) Thanks! Darrone
Guest Vector Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 1.roms are the game files for the gameboy emulator 2.And You can create shortcuts by a)Using activesync to explore on pc to the file, copy it and then where you want the shortcut right click and choose "Paste Shortcut" or ;) doing the same with smartexplorer :D
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 1, roms are the actual games themselves For those you will have to find yourself as links for roms on this site are not allowed as it is considered warez. 2, Easiest way is to create a shortcut using Activsync, explorer the phone and right click copy on the .exe then go to the Games folder (as in the post above) and right click paste shortcut.
Guest Pondrew Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Guys (Davidrm & awarner), can you please not both talk at once, it's giving me a headache!
Guest Darrone3dr Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Right, I have created the shortcut - no problem I'm pretty sure I have the correct roms downloaded in the same folder as the game. But when I go to fire it up, it just hangs and doesn't do anything. :?: :?: :?: :?:
Guest squall Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 where did you download the gameboy emulator from? The pocket pc gameboy emulator goes by the same name, so worth checking you dont have the wrong one. You can get the emulator from www.monolithix.org
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Guys (Davidrm & awarner), can you please not both talk at once, it's giving me a headache! What's worse is that he's posting faster than me today  What should be happening is the rom list screen should load up, if you are getting a blank white screen it means the roms are in the wrong location and not in the same folder as the exe
Guest Vector Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 What's worse is that he's posting faster than me today  hehehe, keep up :D actually...that's a stupid thing to say to someone 5000+ posts ahead of you ;)
Guest spacemonkey Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Make sure of 3 things a) roms are name something.gb or something.gbc :D roms are in the same directory as gnuboy.exe c) when you created the shortcut that you created a shortcut rather than copying the whole gnuboy.exe to your start menu...
Guest Vector Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 what bit are you confused about? the roms? the shortcut? or just everything? :D
Guest Darrone3dr Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Err...everything!! I have downloaded so may different .exe it's unbelievable! Ok, lets start from the beginning... What exactly do I need to download? Is there more than 1 .exe that I need? Or is it all in one? Where do I download the .exe to? The PC or the PC then copy it to the phone? Do I run the .exe on the PC or on the phone? ?????
Guest spacemonkey Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 download the gnuboy.exe from here: http://www.surrealservices.co.uk Copy the exe from the pc onto your phone in a directory such as /Storage Card/gnuboy (or any directory you like) take some gameboy roms (*.gb or *.gbc) and copy them to the same directory on the phone. Create a shortcut on your phone in /storage/windows/start menu (or /IPSM/windows/start menu) that links to the gnuboy.exe Run it. That's it.
Guest Vector Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 you can get some free legal ones but the majority are illegal unless you own the actual game :D Posted from my SmartPhone!
