Guest craigblade Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 Hi, I recently bought a 2nd hand mpx200 but have found the battery to be quite bad. With it being a lithium battery the first charge is supposed to be a very long one, and I suspect that wasn't done. Therefore, as soon as the battery level gets to 50%, it seems to reduce in power to 0% within a matter of hours. Is there a way of restoring the battery to how it should really be? thanks, craig
Guest Vector Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 you could try doing a few fully charge, full discharge cycles :D That sometimes helps  Charge it to the max, and then leave it drop until it's nearly dead ;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 Forget the above do not fully discharge a Li-ion battery and David should know better by now than to suggest it :D If you managed to fully discharge a Liion battery you could damage it, they prefer being kept topped up as much as possible. The best way to condition the battery is to leave it on charge overnight for at least 12 hours.
Guest Vector Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 Sorry ;) It's just that people have told me to do that and nobody has ever told me that it could damage my battery, first time i heard it could damage the battery :? learn something new everyday.... :D
Guest craigblade Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 Thanks for the advice guys. I have actually sent an email to CeX - the place where I bought the phone from so hopefully they might replace the phone/battery as they do provide a 12 month warrenty on the phone. I don't think an overnight charge has done any help though, as I have been charging it every single night anyway for about 9-12 hours. Is it maybe a good idea to let the battery drop to say 20% and then do a good 12 hour charge, and maybe do this several times? craig
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 It may help to condition it but it sounds like you may have a faulty battery.
