Guest Taoski Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 My work "colleague" had been given a locked down iPAQ PocketPC recently which was confined to the drawer due to the fact that it was locked down tight and was set to sync with Lotus Notes which never quite worked... anyway. After the battery had totally drained and the device had loaded itself back to factory settings (unlocked) i took the SD card from my SPV and whacked it in and browsed the contents. I attempted to play a pocketTV file i had... no luck - and then realised that all my choons were in OGG format... another blank. So... browsing the Program Files area on my SD card i managed to run PocketTV and then load the file - and it worked! It even had the toolbar at the bottom of the screen and also allowed me to change the orientation. And it played perfectly - without any glitches at all! Perfect. So.. i tried PocketMusic too and that did not want to work - even after i re-entered my reg code - possibly missing the registry entries i suspect. (so we installed the Freeware PocketPC version from their website.... wow..... it's sooo cool!). Then i tried to play the SPV version of Total Soccer which loaded the initial menus in SPV size - but the game ran in full screen! Excellent! The only trouble was that i could move my player - but not pass or shoot due to lack of buttons. A bit like ManU at the weekend :D I was suitably impressed that it all worked as well as it did. I suppose it should as the OS is pretty much the same. Anyone found any Pocket PC apps that work on smartphones? Or vice versa?
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 From what I've read here, Pocket PC software will never install properly on a Smartphone. I have also seen it done in reverse though
Guest Taoski Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 What about if you just pick up some of the EXEs and run them from your SD card?
Guest djboo Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 might be worth getting embedded vc++ for the emu - then u can install ppc apps, grab the exe's and thwack em on a spv.
Guest Taoski Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Ahhh. clever idea! might just try that one!
Guest djboo Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 i just realised. the emu isn't arm. yoo't work. Posted from my SmartPhone!
