bStart - progress on my new start menu replacement

Been suggested i post here... so i will.

Im working on a new start menu replacement thingy. couple of key features as far as im concerned:

*smaller fonts

*two columns

*scrolling doesnt take up a menu item

*folders are updated live

*navigation with number keys (2 down, 4 left, 6 right, 8 up, 0 or 5 = click)

just copy the exe to your phone.

its a .net exe so u need a e200 or similar...

things im adding soon:

*icon of selected item will be shown bottom right

*thumbsitck will function too

*second start menu (stored in SD) will be shown alongside normal menu so each card can personalize the start menu

pls note - this is alpha, i just wanna show you guys what im up too and get your feedback so i can make this as good as possible.

didnt work at all on my e200.

I get the folders of my main programs screen but cant navigate at all. The screen is a bit jumbled and when I click on any button I get an error.

the screen full of s*** should be fixed - the dir cache wasnt being cleaned on entry to a new dir - DUH!

clicking on some folders still causes heart failure... looking into that.

This is certainly different to the Microsoft start menu ;)

I can see this being really good when it gets near to final :lol:

new version:

*clearing works

*file exec should be perfect now (not broken when u go into folders)

*dual start menu (if theres a 'start menu' folder on your SD its contents (other than folders that dont exist in the real start menu) are added to the normal start menu)

again, just copy it to your phone and run it.

ive got a fair few people with this complaint now...

u guys fully unlocked?

do u have a SD in?

I've tried it with the SD card in and out of the phone. I've place the exe on the Storage Card with a shortcut to it in the start menu and placed the exe straight in the start menu. Still getting the error message and unable to scroll.

I've gone through the OTA unlock so I should be fully unlocked. If someone would tell me a way to check that it is indeed fully unlocked (like being able to change some registry keys that isn't allow on an unlocked E200) I'll make sure, just in case.

I was never locked(i have a qtek 8080) and i have used it both in sd card and in storage with shortcuts

can it be used on 2002? it just can't install in my mio 8380 smartphone2002!

it's path is storate/windows/start menu , but the path feature on my phone is IPSM/windows/start menu!

it won't work on Smartphone 2002 as it hasn't got .net capabilities... :D

my e200 went down the loo unexpectedly - waiting for november so i can get an upgrade to a c500

oh dear! i too am nearing the end of my E200 contract and absolutely desperate to get a C500 - my E200 is more and more stubborn and i can't get it repaired because after the keys started playing up, it since got wet. so the warranty is screwed. ah well.

will you work on a bStart for C500? since it does seem to be the most popular smartphone so far, you'd have a huge potential of beta-testers onhand. it's a great idea, my start menu has so many items on it now; but i'd prefer a smoother font on the finished version.

I noticed that if you "search" for something - and click the topic in your search - the downloads wont appear unless you remove the "highlight" party of the addy... maybe a refresh would help as well!

u gotta be signed in - they are there. i ended up getting an m2000 instead of the c500 - not really much call for a replacement startmenu on that thing, tho im not overly keen on the default one its better than the e200 one by far.

however, if i can get another copy of visual studio (my beta expired) - id love to take on any projects people can think of.
