Guest jago Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Hello all - just some helpfull advice. I ordered my SPV E200 via the web with an attractive deal of 250 free txt msgs etc. The final order screen shows clearly '2 - 5 days for delivery' I waited 3 weeks and NOTHING arrived. I then called them (was on the phone for 30 mins in a queue) and they said that my credit check had not yet gone through and that 'it could do any day now' I received nothing by 16th April so called them again - 30 mins later they answer, say the order has past the credit check and that I should receive the phone by 21st April latest. I then got this email today - 25 days after ordering the phone; Dear Mr Addison Your order was processed on 26/03/04 It has since then gone out of stock. We do not get advised as to when the handsets are coming back into stock, only when they are scanned into our warehouse. If you would like to change to another model handset then that would be no problem. All I ask is that you check the Orange website then mail me back. As you have passed the credit check you could also see if your local Orange shop has the SPV E200 in stock, but you will need proofs of i.d and address. You have to be aware that you wont get the same promotions at an Orange shop as through our telesales department. If you decide to do this please let me know the most convenient town for you to get to and I will mail you the details for the nearest shops to you. Regards Steve Website administrator I have now cancelled my order (obviously) and dont think I will be moving to Orange now somehow! What a disgrace, Im going to send a letter to Watch Dog - Customers should not be treated like this. I think its disgusting. :x
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 That is so terrible. It's almost a new low for Orange. I'm surprised you waited 3 weeks before phoning them. They should have been so apologetic though that they hand-delivered one to your door. I would write to head office but I imagine you really just don't care now.
Guest jago Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Yes your right I should - do you have an email address for head office? Thanks
Guest Disco Stu Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 I was thinking of actually writing a letter to The Head of Customer Relations, Orange head office, UK. Or try here : http://www.ofcom.org.uk/
Guest nvkid909 Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 a credit check should just take a few minutes on computer, high street shops do this when they offer you their store-cards. :?
Guest Jon_ Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 I had a similar delay, on the 5'th day after the order day and no phone i rang, and found out my credic check had stalled, due to me lving in my current house for less than a year, and the system not passing on the details of my past addresses properly, i gave the phone call center guy my address history and he passed it on to the relevnat department (this was on a friday) on the monday i rang again to check my order status and was advised my phone had been dispached and it arrived on tuesday, so a total of 3 working days to late, no great deal really and top marks to the orange call center staff for sorting out a problem which wasnt their fault as to why you waited 3 weeks i cant belive you didnt ring and check, in my case the one phone call sorted it!
Guest ajb3000 Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 They're only human and do make mistakes... I have had a few problems with them but still think they are by far the best network in the UK, espiecally with the value of some of their bundles, services they support and deals like 2 for 1 cinema tickets.
Guest Foxy2k Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 It took 4 days for me to get my SPV e200 on exactly the same deal. I also recieved 2 free sd cards from orange (an 8mb and a 30mb one). I'm completely satisfied with the service they offered. It's a shame your experience was so bad, but it's not like that for everyone.
